Looking good.. but but but but but......
Where do I stick my KS3.1 ROMs?? I am so confused.
JUST KIDDING:-P

Nice to see some new things on the site in a short period of time. Looking good.

I don't know if you're serious or not, but where did you get the idea that the AmigaOne will use the KS ROMs? The AmigaOne uses AmigaOS independent of Kickstart and custom chips. If you want to run your older hardware-dependent software, plug in your 1200.

Yawn. We already knew that it's using the Articia S for northbridge and that the CPU is a PPC750. Where are the closeups of the southbridge and a detailed overview (preferrably one on which you can read the designer's/manufacturer's name)?

Looks real to me, congrats Eyetech! Very nice!
Perhaps future version could have some distinguishing feature on or in the case. The Plexiglas of the original design was kinda funky but it was distinct. Just something to show at a glance it is not a Wintel machine.
I suppose any variation from “stock” cases will add some cost but I think the pay back will increase if it gets peoples attention, for instance, as that pass by a demo or some other public display.
The new iMac carries this concept to extremes.
Just my $.02

I was joking Wayne, sometimes my attempts at humor fail miserably :-D

No redrumloa, you didn't fail this time, because I was laughing :-P

My my... I ordered one yesterday... Just can't wait till I receive the board. Does anyone here know wether or not I can use a standard x86 graphics board on the AmigaOne or I need one with a PPC bootrom like a Mac board? Yes I know Eyetech have mentioned something about it time and again, but just to be sure before I order myself a Matrox G550.
-
No it won't be like a Mac gfx card. You should be able to use the PC Matrox or Voodoo. There is a chance the Radeon card will be Amiga specific, but I doubt that will actually happen.
A little anxious aren't we? I know the feeling :-D

I said to my gf, LOOK! LOOK! that is the new AmigaOne. Hmm she did not jump up and down from happyness. Why not? :-D
All I got is, so that is why I still have no new car?? Ammmmm.. welll... ohh is that the phone I hear?

Sleeping on the couch tonight. :-o

I think this is very exciting. New modern hardware that appears to be operating is a wonderful thing. Now if I can just find out about the new software. A browser with SSL and a good productivity suite would be a perfect start.
-
I want ONE! Gimme gimme gimme! :-x
:-D

I wonder how many developer boards they have sold? I doubt we will find out though.
-
I love it, Got to have one!

Well, I have one on order, two others here have said they have ordered one, and that was within a day or so of the news item, so I'll bet they sell all the developer boards by the date mentioned.

The one thing I would change is to put the AMR slot between the AGP slot and the first PCI slot. That way there would be lots of room for the heatsink/fan on the video card. As it is you may not be able to use the first PCI slot if you have a fan on your AGP card. And from what I've heard the Matrox cards run hot, so need it.
I wonder if it's too late to make such a small change.
-
I ordered mine today! Let's get going with the
orders guys!!!
You gotta buy 'em for this whole thing to work
-
You can't use both the first pci slot and the agp slot AFAIk. Even though the Northbridge documentation I found at MAI.com is a little vague on the subject.
-
The AGP slot shares one of the PCI buses. If you want to use the AGP slot you only have 3 PCI slots.
> I wonder if it's too late to make such a small change.
No changes will be made. This is the board Eyetech ordered, and this is the board they will be distributing.

Want it, only ONE problem money. Of course theres always the bank ;-) .
Soon the be owner of 1 A3000 2 A600 for only eur 150:- the collection grows ;-)

Which is a prime reason why I WON'T be buying this particular item. It's a dead end, a re-invention of a wheel that's already working pretty damn well. It's not 10 years ago, and we're not talkin' 'bout the Mac. I say let's beat 'em at their own game. Raid the enemy camp for their killer hardware, but run a wholly better OS on it that unleashes the machine's true power! Makes sense to me. :-D
