Bi- and homosexuality was very usual and much more accepted in ancient Greece and Rome, than it is today. So it's not very surprising at all.

"accepted" is a *quite* an understatement..

btw. two men kissing each other isn't that strange in the middle east todays.

Between men right?
The old greeks didnĀ“t spoke so openly about female homosexuality.

Men kissing (on the cheeks) isn't exactly a sign that they're gay anyway...
If I kiss a female friend on the cheek to say goodbye, that doesn't mean I have any sexual feelings for her, does it?

I'm sure I've kissed and been kissed by blokes when drunk :-) (Not on the lips or with tongues though :lol:)

Doesn't the pope kiss people?
Is he gay?

Are bears catholic?
Does the pope {bleep} in the woods?

Um... I wouldn't like to see wha would happen to two men kissing in public... say Iran... actually I wouldn't like to see what would happen between a husband and wife in public Iran :nervous:

ATHENS (Reuters) - A group of Greek lawyers are threatening to sue Warner Bros. film studios and Oliver Stone, director of the widely anticipated film "Alexander," for suggesting Alexander the Great was bisexual.

I thought all this was common knowledge...

Ah well, thankfully I'm not as closed minded as most people :-)

Sorry, Eddie Hitler from Bottom.  Can't remember which episode tho.

Richie Rich: "Does my breath smell?"

Eddie: "Does the pope {bleep} in the woods?"
Rich: "What's that got to do with it?"
Eddie: "Well, it smells like he's {bleep} in your mouth."

Yes, Alexander the Great was openly bisexual. Like whabang said, it was the done thing in Ancient Greece and considered normal and healthy, especially among soldiers.

Well you could kiss (;-)) some of the greatest actors, musicians, writers, artists, designers....and military commanders (to name a few that come it mind) goodbye as well if you wanted to exclude gay people...

P.S. not trying to stereotype, its just that these groups come to my mind (for whatever reason) when I think of people who are openly gay

I remember hearing about it many years ago, it wasn't just limited to the Greek army either.  I guess it was the done thing back then.

I remember my father telling me the story of an ancient battle between two sides, one of which was vastly superior in size to the other.  Spies from the larger army witnessed soldiers in the smaller force brushing each other's hair and having close affectionate contact with one another and gleefully passed the reports on to their commanders, who assumed that they would offer no resistance.

Come the actual battle, the smaller army won against vast odds, fighting bravely.  I have a feeling one side was the Spartans but I can't remember for sure.
