Tower Keyboard Recommendations
« on: March 14, 2007, 07:32:39 PM »
I'd like some recommendations for a keyboard to use with my 1200 tower conversion. I'm planning to get a D-Box 1200 with the PC-Key 1200 so I can use either a PC or Amiga 2000/3000/4000 keyboard.

Should I get a used amiga keyboard or get a PC-keyboard?  Are there any key mapping problems with PC keyboards that I should be aware of?  I assume the "A" amiga keys would map to the windows keys or something similar.  I'd prefer a small keyboard as my space is limited and would be interested in a wireless model if there is one that works.

thx,
bubba

I'm using a new Dell keyboard, PS/2 interface. it works fine, though I do miss the feel of an Amiga keyboard. Yes the Amiga key is mapped to the Windows key. It works good. From what I hear though the PC-Key cant handle multiple key presses, which is why I got the Lyra 1200.

I prefer use some solder hack and put an original 2k/3k/4k or a CDTV keyboard (prefer this, looks cool).:-D

Goodbye people.

I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.

If you're going to get a keyboard interface, get the Lyra! As stated above, it's the only one that supports multiple keypresses. Read: good for games, and essential for non-standard (as in, not using SHIFT, A, CTRL or ALT) keyboard shortcuts.

And take great care when ordering the part.. DON'T get the KEYRAH. Get the LYRA :) I know someone who made the mistake and didn't RTFM before hacking it into the machine. They keyrah is the *opposite* : it turns your miggy into a PC keyboard. Ok.. granted the guy was a little daft around the edges.. but still :)
