HD Tool Box and OS 3.9 unbelievable troubles!
« on: April 03, 2007, 08:50:47 PM »
Hi guys ,

I would very appreciate if you help me to solve my problem with my A1200 that it made me spend two sleepless nights.

In practice I need to format the HD and to install OS 3.9.

I have departed from the disk INSTALL of OS 3.1 and I have opened HD Tools and then HD Tool Box..

I premise that I have an HD of 60 GBs and I am conscious that is not easy to format more' of 4GB.

Then in the HD Tool Box appears "Change Drive Type" that I have used let recognize my Samsung HD of 60GB but if I do this it recognize me from a -128,6786 etc. MB and when I pass to partition and make "Low Level Format" makes me believe that it going to create two partitions HD0: and HD1:

but it happens that or 1) they don't appear me both of them once I have done the Re-Boot or 2) it appears only the HD0: with very few space to install OS 3.9 that needs 20 MB and the other device appears to me as No-DOS.

Then when I try to boot form the Emergency Disk of OS 3.9 I created that has the IDE-Fix drivers included the Amiga find me 1) or an HD0:  insufficient as space or 2) with a HD1:  No-Dos that I don't succeed in formatting from the Emergency Disk.

I have made another trial too:

Not changing anything in the HD Tool Box in order to recognize my HD with and I"Change Drive type" I tried to read two partitions of 4031 MB each one and I tried to make bootable both DH0: or only one of them but when I finish the Miggy doesn't boot and the problems remain:

Once it seemed the whole installation was succesfully done but happens that the few times that the Amiga Boots do not wanna recognize me to the volume CD1 of the CD-ROM.

I am really going crazy, I have also tried an analogous program to HD Tool box from Aminet but I have not succeeded in resolving the problem.

Would you mind to give me one hand since you have more experience than me?

Thanks A Lot!

After booting from the Emergency disk, use the HDToolbox on there (or the 3.9 CD) to prepare the drive (reinstall the RDB from scratch), and do not low-level format it.

the problem is that the HD Tool Box on the emergency disk doesn't work!

If OS3.9's HDToolbox does not open - the Setpatch ROM update has not been successful

This could mean that the NSD patch is not successful too, so 60GB hard disks will not be recognised correctly.
