Description: This cicada had just been caught by the cat! They're about 4cm-5cm long (including wings) and harmless - but they're VERY noisy, especially close up!

Jose Posts:2869 | December 28, 2013, 06:25:18 PM We have them here in the south of Portugal too, but I've never seen one with colors, they're all various shades of grey. I love the noise they make actually, it's part of the season. Very nice creatures and pretty evolved. |

Not a big deal though, a few minutes of it and you don't even hear it any more. You find their shells on the bases of trees all over, I guess it's when they gid out of the ground and fix their wings. |

InTheSand Posts:1766 | February 08, 2007, 07:17:57 AM Macro mode is good fun! Didn't want to crop too closely as I wanted to retain the 4:3 aspect, but thanks for your comments! - Ali |
adz Posts:2961 | February 07, 2007, 09:43:44 PM Looks like we have another participant 8-) Nice detail mate, although a little more cropping would have been the icing on the cake ;-) Come on guys, macro photography is great fun and just about every digi-cam has a macro mode of sorts now, so start snapping :-) |
