I just ripped mine out, does the shielding serve any practical purpose?
Its purpose was to allow the device to pass FCC certification in USA. The majority of users will not miss it..
Maybe HAM radio people might be more interested in having a shielded computer, but normal people usually won't be affected by the interference.
If i leave the RF shield out then i still wouldn't have anywhere to mount the CF card.
Stick a bit of cardboard under the cf adapter with double sided tape to prevent short circuits, then just lay it down on top of whatever it happens to land on. There's nowhere to mount it even with the RF shield, as you implied. Everyone gets to roll their own solution.
