A1200 all the way.  I have one and its the only miggy I ever wanted when I was a kid.  As soon as I saw it I loved it.  And considering you can get NEW expansion cards for it you will not be let down!

If someone is going to suggest using a hacked ps3 then they should point out the downsides.

The only downside (if you can call it one as I don't) is that you are not able to connect to the internet.

If you think it's not illegal to hack a ps3 because geohot did not get arrested then go ask him to hack any sony product and see what he says .

Are you trying to twist this intentionally? Geohot's case is totally different compared to what we are having here. As a matter of fact there is almost nothing common between a regular user updating a firmware and the Geohot-lawcase.

For years now http://www.modpiiri.com has offered modchip-solutions and modded consoles on their website. You get guarantee for your purchase and they file their taxes (I hope). Wouldn't you think Microsoft or Sony would have done something about it years ago if it was that illegal?

Hacking a PS3 is just as illegal as hacking your Amiga. There is no fundamental difference between your Amiga and a PS3.

By investigating a bit it seems internet actually works just fine on custom firmware, only PSN is not available. So downsides just went from one to zero.

Well my take on it is...

Sony used profits from their high quality reliable A/V product sales to muscle in on the console market after Nintendo publicly embarassed them with the SNES-CDROM project.

Microsoft used profits from their illegal monopoly on OS market and their overpriced substandard rubbish operating systems like Vista etc

So in a world of lesser evils I would rather Nintendo and Microsoft went bust and Sega came back and battled with Sony

My A500 with turbocard and a harddrive making it about three meters long looked pretty geeky.. far away from stylish too hehe

Brand new A600 looked kinda cool IMO, shame there wasn't much inside to justify the purchase, especially the harddrive-version cost an arm and a leg. A1200 in A600 at reasonable price.. that would have been a winner.

And PS3 is still an emulator anyway.  Personally I've gone the other way, I use my emulated Amigas more now than my non-emulated ones.  I can put UAE up on the left screen, leave OS X on the centre one and still have the right screen free for other uses.

says he has a near mint A1200 with 3.1 and 6mb of RAM and a 2GB harddrive.

Half of the thread is about correcting wrong information by several people to several people. Don't stack all the shit on top of me.
Also I have no need to start a new thread about PS3, I'm happy running Amigasoftware by emulation, and TheMud will be happy running Amigasoftware by the real thing. No losers here, only winners. And hey, maybe some people even learned something about hacking.
