Hi Friends,
Fancy getting a laptop to run MorphOS. What is the best spec powerBoog G4 I can buy. Will it run on every model ? What is the highest processor, screen, ram GPU etc I can use.
Thanks

Looks like will be OK with the PowerBook5,9 as long as its got ATI GPU. What is the most Ram morphos will use ?

Any recommendation on where to get one in the UK apart form ebay

You can see all Powerbook models here:
http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powerbook_g4/index-powerbook-g4.html
All Radeon equipped models should work, but Titanium ones might lack some support (audio on some models).
Generally speaking, the faster the better (by support too).
Touchpad settings and gestures, and certain special keys do only work on models which have USB touchpad/keyboard (at least 5,6-5,9 models). ADB ones are missing some functionality.
5,8 and 5,9 are slightly improved compared to 5,6 and 5,7. They have better resolution, both memory slots are more likely to work, better optical drive etc.
MorphOS will use max 1.5GB of the installed memory.

Cool, that's the best one, it's just matter of need if you like 15" or 17" of those two of the latest models. I have 17" myself, but been thinking that 15" could be more portable :)
Cheap find!

I've never owned a 17" Powerbook, but even the 15" is a ridiculously huge beast of a thing. I'd go for the 12", to be honest, except for some reason they outfitted every 12" Powerbook G4 with nVidia graphics instead of ATI, so they're crap for any fringe OS. Oh well...

I already own a 17" laptop an alienware its massive more of a desktop replacement. Wanted something more portable as want to try and do some morphos programming.
Already own a silent upgrade mac mini with registered morphos key which will probably be selling soon if anyone is interested
