FREMONT, CA. February 10, 2003. Mai Logic Incorporated, a technology design house of integrated circuits/systems, announced today that it has achieved "Ready For IBM Technology" validation for its Articia S system controller and Teron CX and Teron PX evaluation system boards for IBM's 750CXe and 750FX PowerPCTM processors based applications.

"MAI Logic has successfully developed optimized supporting devices and reference designs for PowerPCTM microprocessor application platforms which have passed a rigorous PowerPCTM compatibility validation testing process by IBM Microelectronics labs," said Lisa Su, Director of PowerPCTM and emerging products, IBM Microelectronics. "Solutions like MAI's 'Ready for IBM Technology' chipset and evaluation systems give developers more ways to enhance their applications, resulting in improved time to market, more cost effective designs, and improved performance products by our OEM customers."

"We at MAI are very excited about this latest achievement," said Jason Hou, CEO of Mai Logic, Inc. "We will continue working closely with IBM to better our product designs and development following IBM's PowerPCTM processor roadmap. By leveraging the strong ties we have with our manufacturing partners in Taiwan and the close relationship with the leading developers worldwide, MAI intends to deliver the most cost-effective, highest-quality PowerPCTM offerings to the traditional PowerPCTM market place and expanding it into new applications presently not in the PowerPCTM application domain. This validation will further enable IBM's and MAI's customers to accelerated time to market coupled with significantly reduced resource deployment and management costs."

Articia S
Articia S is the first in the Articia family of chipsets designed with the revolutionary "Bus-Centric" methodology to achieve a more balanced and efficient architecture serving both CPU and peripheral bus requirements. Articia S can support single- or dual-processors at 133MHz CPU bus speed. It is also the first commercialized system controller to provide AGP support for RISC processor based systems. Next-generation Articia Sa and Articia P will soon be available. For product details, please visit: http://www.mai.com

Teron
Teron CX and Teron PX evaluation systems are generic ATX motherboards built with PowerPCTM processors. The former is the first PowerPCTM processor based board with enhanced AGP option and the latter equipped with a 300-pin MegArray connector, provides easy configuration to a range of development platforms driven by single-processor and dual-processor CPU module cards (including the latest PowerPCTM 750FX processor).

The "Ready for IBM Technology" program is developed to help OEMs identify hardware or software of IBM Business Partners that have received validation with IBM's products. Eligible participants must complete the validation process to obtain the approval and use of the "Ready for IBM Technology emblem as well as to further distinguish their product listings in the IBM Global Solutions Directory. Careful, its a certification program - we don't want
any nasty riots.

Seriously though whilst this is good news for
"serious" computing it means zip as far as I can
see for Eyetech and AmigaOS4.

The one thing it could mean is that the chipset price could drop, so the A1 and Peg would drop down in price, plus more people would start to buy it to use in thier systems so that would allow MAI to produce better chipsets supporting better protocols.

Ah but this one was well made, you should
photo it and put it in a frame on your desk at
work so you can look at it every day.

Might be worth something in years to come!
