OS4 on the BlizzardPPC | ||

Description: Well it has been a long time since I submitted a picture. I can't believe they cut the size to 100,000 bytes - my image looks terrible compressed that much! Anyway, I thought I'd submit a screenshot of my workbench - running pretty much as it does "out of the box". On the BlizzardPPC... ;-) Picture Stats: Views: 5938 Filesize: 50.12kB Height: 768 Width: 1024 Posted by: Karlos at May 06, 2004, 02:43:47 PM Image Linking Codes

Tomas Posts:2828 | October 28, 2006, 11:56:51 PM Just a year + waiting left then :-D |
Xanxi Posts:897 | August 11, 2006, 12:29:27 PM Still no news of OS4 for classic PPC? By the way, are you allowed to say if the Mediator would be compatible? |
Karlos Posts:16867 | September 23, 2004, 05:21:35 PM @whabang :lol: You sure aren't the first to make that link :-) Pity I only noticed the dodgy date after I uploaded - one can't exactly pass it off as "running the clock a bit ahead", eh? |
whabang Posts:7270 | September 07, 2004, 01:05:57 PM Does that date represent the real release date of OS4? :-D |
HopperJF Posts:1531 | June 01, 2004, 01:24:56 AM thats very comforting it doesnt sound half as bad as the transition was from OS 9 to X that many a mac user were troubled with, and still are sadly |
Karlos Posts:16867 | May 15, 2004, 01:15:50 AM @Jose Native modes work fine - after all you have a real native chipset at your disposal. I've tested deluxe paint in ham8 mode and it was fine :-D |
Jose Posts:2869 | May 13, 2004, 11:06:03 PM I know a Gfx card is a must, but was just curious, does it support all the AGA modes like HAM8? |
Karlos Posts:16867 | May 07, 2004, 06:46:48 PM I basically wanted to post this to give a bit of hope to many a despondant BlizzPPC owner growing weary of waiting. OS4 for the blizzard is real, it does work and IMHO it will be worth the wait. @Vincent There's lots of nice things that have been done to improve the usage and functionality. Best of all they are in the smaller details, it's still completely amigaos as you come to know it. There's no learning curve, if you know 3.9 you will be immediately comfortable. That's not to say there aren't major improvements - they're everywhere. But what I mean is, they don't get in the way :-) |
Karlos Posts:16867 | May 07, 2004, 06:15:07 PM @itix Thanks, but the kudos certianly belongs to another. I'm only testing it and working on some stuff on the edges. |
Vincent Posts:3895 | May 07, 2004, 03:31:28 PM One thing I didn't notice before, that I love about OS4... That prefs window disappearing off the screen :-D Gorgeous thing that, and needed long ago. |
itix Posts:2380 | May 07, 2004, 02:51:41 PM Wow, congrats! :-D I doubt you ever boot into slow 68k OS again :-) |
Karlos Posts:16867 | May 07, 2004, 02:00:52 PM @Warface I specifically asked for permission before I submitted the image. @Vincent If you look at any of my other wb shots you can see exactly what happens if you boot from KarlOS: :-D There's a very long story behind it, but I had the nickname "Karlos Kebab Van Mendoza" for some time and it ended up that the first 4 partitions became named after it :-) Since changing HD, I actually cloned my KarlOS/Kebab partitions (both bootable) and the rest got split into OS4, Applications, Developer, Data and Workspace. |
Vincent Posts:3895 | May 07, 2004, 12:46:12 PM OS4 does indeed look good, but I'm more interested in seeing what happens if we boot using KarlOS ;-) |
Ryu Posts:1023 | May 07, 2004, 11:52:00 AM All I can say is BAH! |
Warface Posts:970 | May 07, 2004, 10:21:10 AM So the Blizzard version is not under NDA anymore? The 100K filesize limit is totally nuts, I agree. Makes the best screenshots look awful fake. |
Karlos Posts:16867 | May 06, 2004, 08:17:05 PM I dunno what happened to my RTC, I only just noticed the insane date there :lol: |
