Ok will change that.
Just a sidenote:
This is the place where all other aros builds keep those tools. On x86 distros we had to keep an eye to that.
Pure nightlies have them under extras:misc/aminet/c

Thanks for your feedback, helps a lot.

For awhile now, I've wanted to buy a rasperry pi and a case for it... Knowing this is available sure makes me wanna do that more.

I hear linux is slow, how is this as far as snappiness and responsiveness?

I'm off to find some youtube vids of raspberry pi AROS...

X11 (the GUI part of Linux) is very slow. Plus, if you have bad graphic card drivers, that won't help either at all. They're developing alternatives to X11 currently, like Mir and Wayland.

Does it have a 68K emulation layer to run classic apps?

What we\'re witnessing is the sad, lonely crowing of that last, doomed cock.

Nope no layer yet. You can only run E-UAE or better UAE4all which is optimized for ARM devices.

Enhancing VAMOS to work as Wrapper with included 68k emulator could work but would be a huge project but also interesting for i386 branch. This one would have the same compatibility as AmigaOS4 or MOS. This means that Custom-chips would not be emulated.

JanusUAE emulated everything but it brings overhead.

X11 in itself is not slow; that is a common misconception. I am a chip designer and use X11 all day. Raspi X11 is slow because of unaccelerated drivers.
Trust me...                                              I know what I\'m doing

@phoenixkonsole

Hi I don't know if you have tried it get but an execrated version of the x11 driver has now been released for the Raspberry Pi and it seems to make x11 and AROS on the raspberry Pi feel a lot more snappy. see http://www.raspberrypi.org/archives/5580 for more details.

You can install it under AEROS by opening a linux xterminal and running the following.

1. "sudo apt-get update ; sudo apt-get upgrade" and agreeing to downloads and install to upgrade to the new firmware and linux kernal.

2. "sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-video-fbturbo"

You will then need to reboot your Raspberry Pi to load the new kernel and faster xorg driver.

I only had a short time last night to test it out after getting the updates downloaded and the driver setup but so far I would say that the new x11 driver feels as fast or faster than running AROS hosted without x11 running.  I will need to see if I can find a display benchmark tool for aros to run a real comparison, but so far I am quite pleased with the difference the new driver makes.

On a related note I would like to try out UAE4all now we have a better display driver to see what the speed is like but I am not sure were to install the required kickstart rom file, So can I ask that you add that information to the release news for the ext release so everyone knows how to use it in future.

Thanks again for all your hard work AEROS on the Raspberry Pi, its now beginning to feel like a real usable next gen Amiga system rather than just a fun toy :-)

Nice nice and triple nice!
it must be called kick.rom and place it in extras:classic/uae4all
Not proven yet but i believe that only kick13 is supported by this version.

EDIT:
"It provides 2D Acceleration for moving windows and scrolling for the Raspberry Pi (using the Raspberry Pi DMA Controller)"
MUHAHAHA! *evil laugh*

I just downloaded the beta 6, public release. Extracted the archive and wrote the image to my 8GB SD card.
Putting the SD card into my pi (256MB version) and power up.
I can see there is an error message while booting, "Error: ld.so: object '/usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libcofi_rpi.so' from /etc/ld.so.preload cannot not be preloaded"

From the installation manual on the aeros website it says you should enter the following:
"sudo Xorg -configure"
When I enter that command (without the quotes), it repeats that same ld.so error message, plus another line "sudo: unknown uid 0: who are you?"

Any idea what could be wrong here?
