MorphOS?

I'm curious about MorphOS, and I don't know much about it. What exactly is it based on? - and what hardware does
it require to run?

I would love to know about a software compatilibity list that works with Morphos but can't find anything on the net before I make the jump.

I too would love to see such a list...not much old Amiga stuff I've tried to date has actually worked :(
