Warp Engine 4040
« on: September 06, 2021, 01:22:19 AM »
Does anyone know if the Warp Engine 4040 must have RAM installed so it will boot A4000? My specs A4000, OS 3.2 with 3.2 ROM, 4g CF card, Cyber 64/3D, 16 mg Motherboard ram. Machine boots fine when I use my 68EC030 board. Do not get anything when trying to use the Warp. The first 2 SIMM slots are broken so if it needs RAM installed I have to replace them. If it does not need RAM to boot then I have some other issue.

I believe you must set jumpers J100 and J104 (from 1-2 to 2-3 pins) to external clock source with 68040 and greater. Have you done that?

The motherboard int/ext clock jumpers? yes those are set for external. SIMM socket 4 and 3 the first sockets to fill both have broken latches so the RAM will not lock in the sockets. But if no RAM is needed for it to boot computer replacing the SIMM sockets is secondary issue. Then look at the 040 chip or the clock oscillator.
