Title: Emulated Amiga
Post by: Dmaster on February 04, 2017, 10:15:26 PM
Just got my copy of Amiga OS 4.1FE Classic from Amikit.  Which is better to install under PC?  WinUAE or FS-UAE? And cyberstorm or blizzard?

I prefer WinUAE.  I've run both and using the CyberStorm emulation ran noticeably faster than running the Blizzard  emulation.  At the time you were limited to accelerator ram so the Blizzard provided twice as much.  With Update 1 to OS 4.1 FE you can use Zorro III ram so you aren't limited to the 128MB CyberStorm ram.

Thanks. I wish it could be installed on my real Amiga 2000 but no PPC for it :)  I will experiment with this

Well I got Amiga OS 4.1 Classic installed under latest WinUAE and it works great.  But when I do upgrade 1 it will not boot and just stays on a pink or purple screen. Any ideas?

when you install the update, "power off" the emulation, don't restart....ie press F12 and quit or restart then start the 4.1 emulation again.

Weird.  It could be an issue with your configuration or kickstart file.  Make sure OS 4.1 is fully patched with the AmiUpdate app before installing Update 1, and don't use AmiUpdate to install Update 1.  It will try to extract to ram and run out of space.   Download and extract then install manually (run the installer).

Some have had the same issue you are experiencing though I have no idea the setup/configuration of their 4.1 FE environment prior to installing Update 1.

I have been running OS4.1 in emulation for awhile. I cant say I enjoyed the trial and error of getting it up and running. However I just saw this and must say it might be the easiest way to get 4.1 running

Silly name but it simplifies things. Worth checking out for anyone who hasnt already tried OS4.1 in emulation
