AB3D is still one of the best 3d-shooters I have played.
Don't know why really; I have played Half-life, QuakeIII
and a wide selection of other 3d-games afterwards, but
still I could go back to play AB3D today and enjoy it. It still
has a great atmosphere and very special gameplay. And
surprisingly, the graphics still feel "OK" for me. It's not en
par with modern games of course (not by far), but it
works and once one start playing you just forget about it -
you see where everything is and you never have any
problems playing just because of low-res graphics.

AB3dII never rose to the heights of its predecessor. Apart
from being buggy, slow and very difficult, something was
lacking in the atmosphere. (But it has some effects that
is still very nice- in one place there is this completely
dark area - and you don't have any light with you at all.
Somewhere in there is an elevator to a room below. When
having walked around in there for a while the elevator
moves up. On it is a huge robot with four flashlights
mounted all over, suddenly flooding the place in bright light
and machine-gun fire. I don't think I ever have jumped so
high in my seat since.)

A great game. Have to load it up soon again.
