Lurker finally bought a Amiga 500
« on: March 25, 2018, 08:35:51 AM »
Been lurking the forums for years. Just bought a Amiga 500 off of ebay. What's a good start for a new Amiga user? I also own a Atari 1040STe as well. I know it's a Atari.

Get the gotek drive from Ebay and flash it with HxC firmware.
you can use ADF file like normal disks.

What about SCSI hard drives? I have some SCSI hard drives I would like to use with the Amiga 500. What would I need too connect a scsi hard drive to a Amiga 500 and do I need extra memory for games or will all games load in 512K. Is 1mb memory required for some games?

Use it mostly to play games. I suppose a ide sidecar hard drive is a better choice than scsi? Does the scsi hard drive have to have parity  to be used with the side car hard drives such as the Supra 500XP? Looks like you get the added benefit of extra memory when you have one of these sidecar hard drives. Is there a limit on how large of a hard drive you can use with a Amiga 500?
