Title: Vesalia and Amigakit
Post by: curtis on May 19, 2010, 03:00:52 PM
I'll put up a vote for Vesalia and Amigakit

Done a couple of transactions with both of them and have nothing but good luck.

Only problem I had with Amigakit was when that volcano exploded and grounded everything.  Not their fault, FedEx couldn't fly!

Sure wish there was someone here in the States tho.  Would save quite a bit in shipping.

Tried Software Hut a couple fo times, but never got a response to emails.

So revanchellc.com is pretty bad, huh?  In what way?

Can't speak to revanche but SHut - I've heard of folks who've had runaway success dealing with them and then stories like yours.

Their catalog doesn't exactly fill me with confidence: they still have CSPPCs listed, and I very seriously doubt if they have them in stock...!

(Funny aside: Steve G., back on c.s.a.a on usenet used to point to SHut's catalog whenever the question of "Well where can one get one of these super-Amigas you tout?" came up. :D Ah, good times, good times...)

I agree. Ordering on the Vesalia site is a little funky but works just as good. And they sometime have different stuff than A.K.

Vesalia is always great to do business with. Have been a customer for atleast 12+ years.

Since I just recently bought my first product from Amigakit, I can't really say more than that I got my device alot faster than I thought due to the volcano stuff.

Last time I bought something from Softhut was when I bought 1581 diskdrives for my Commodore 64 back in early 1990 or so.... they were good then atleast ;)

I really think it's great that they still support us with Amiga and Commodore 64 stuff. It's amazing really! Makes it hard for me to decide from whom I should order my Amiga OS 4.1 computer from :D

@Amigakit

I just ordered an NEW A1200 from Amigakit - NOS! (hasn't arrived yet thouogh).
I am now ready to buy all the goodies too....

Amiga Mouse
USB Board
PCMCIA Wireless Card
Apollo 1230 030/40MHz w/FPU (Just purchased on ebay!)

and a Scan Doubler for the A1200

I would appear AmigaKit doesn't don't have a scan doubler in stock for the A1200....
Might someone know when they will have them back in stock?

I also need a like-new A500 replacement keyboard.
(Got the burner all fixed and back running!)
Also just bought an A2000HD setup on ebay!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Looking at S-HUT's website is a little odd...   seems like they don't update it at all.
(Is the free gifts thing still good at S-HUT?)
Can a person be reached to speak to on the phone at S-HUT?

I would like to just order everything from one vendor if I could.
Anyone ordered from Software Hut lately?

Thanks......

Can someone put up a link to vesalia, don't think I've ever vistited their site, if I have I don't remember. I have done business with Amigakit, bought my SamFlex from them, good company but I'm not a fan of their support ticket system, I'd much rather just email them if I need tech help. SHut used to be great, they would build you a custom towered system and they had tons of stock. Joe the owner is a nice guy but his tech guy Chris left. He really should take down the web page because I don't think he has any of that stuff in stock any more, everything I've tried to order wasn't there. When I asked him about OS4.1 and systems he said they were illegal  because not approved by AInc. but that was some time ago. Never heard of revanchel but I sure do miss the good ole days of having Amiga dealers in the states. There used to be 6 good ones fairly near me.

I just reciently Last Friday I ordered the ordered GVP Typhoon 030/40 from Softhut.  To go with the NOS A1200 I ordered from Amigakit.

After corresponding with Joe via email over the weekend I found out that the SCSI was not something that could be easily added later, so I agreed switch to the model with SCSI. He even gave me a $20 discount on the SCSI and the shipping with a reasonable $10.

Anyway, the package tracking number came Monday and my package is scheduled to arrive tomorrow.

So maybe give Softhut a chance…

I've purchased stuff from AmigaKit and SoftHut and they are both great retailers.
SoftHut's website is horribly outdated, but Joe is responsive to emails.

I just yesterday received my new Spectrum RTG card I ordered from SoftHut, something I think you can only get from them.

It's great to have these guys still supporting the Amiga!

Well that's great news about SoftHut, maybe I'll try to do some business with them in the future.

Well, this is the response I got back....   quick!

----------------------------------------------

Hello, I was directed here from Amiga.org and was wondering if you might have the following items for purchase and possible pricing...

I recently purchased an A1200 NOS & an Apollo Accelerator and would like to add the following...

Subway USB adapter

Sold out dont think they are made anymore

2 each - Original Amiga mice

sold out I have refurbished mice for $ 12.00 or a PS 2 mouse adapter for $ 42.95

a Wireless solution - possible PCMCIA or Internal ethernet (non-tower)

Nothing right now available

an internal scan doubler for A1200 (non-tower)

Sold out only have CD32 and 4000 scan doublers. You can try http://www.amigakit.com

They might have some left

Also, would you happen to have a very good condition A500 replacement keyboard

Yes $ 25.00 in great shape

Also noticed that you have a 286 bridgeboard. Would that be suitable for an A2000?

sold out sorry

If for A2000, what does that include? Is it new? Is it a ready solution to add a 286 to an A2000?

I can order and pay for these online if possible thru your site.
Do you still have the free gifts?  ;-)

Yes to order you can use our secure type in link at http://www.softhut.com/select.html

Thanks
