For those whom have ever wondered...
« on: September 19, 2004, 05:31:22 PM »
Yesterday, I felt really brave.. SO

I put a 3.1 ROM from a broken 1200 into an A4000D hoping to
replace the 3.0 rom in the 4000 with parts I have lying
around (and therefore free!) I made an exciting discovery..

IT WORKS!!! Unfortunately, it disables onboard IDE.

The good thing is I have a second 4000D (3.1 rom) with an A4091 with
no attached IDE devices that suffers from the pain in the
@$$ ide boot delay.  Problem solved!

Now you know, in case you were ever wondering.

Adrian

Cool..
Do any zorro boards work in Z3 mode with the A1200 rom?
I got a sneaky feeling it`ll only init the cards in Z2 mode.
 I could be(and often am) wrong :-)
On schedule, and suing

Good question!  I'll do some further testing this weekend.  I've
currently shifted focus to a 3000D w/MK2 at the moment.

I'd guess there might be other not so apparant problems that you might discover.  But, keep us posted.
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(
