I've always used Transcend CF cards in my Miggy's.  Bought one SanDisk card and had nothing but trouble with it.  Tried it again just a couple days ago and it was still acting up, errors when formatting, writing files, etc.  They're very well reviewed online, I think I just got a bum card.  *hit happens.  Meanwhile I have a drawer full of Transcend cards that work fine.   ;)  Your mileage may vary.

8GB cards with PFS is no problem.  Could probably go much higher, that's just the largest I happen to have used.  ;)

I have used many sandisk cf's for many years, and many transcend as well. all work fine.  don't buy them off ebay from chinese sellers, many are counterfeit.

i have used many of the new series with silver labels to 64gb..

Sandisk cf's go to 256MB,but you may need to mortgage the house to  buy anything much over 32GB.

you should be able to use all those device on the ide99,the cf can replace the 80gb hd.

you may need to patch os3.1 for big disks,or use os3.9.

As I have said before, as long as I have had known brands that comply fully with the CF standard I have had zero problems with any of them, the only cards that have had problems with are mostly fakes and clones from ebay or other shady resellers.
