Title: Is there a "show all files" patch
Post by: hektic on October 21, 2013, 09:14:35 PM
Hi,

just wondering if there is a permanent solution to getting Amiga OS 3x to show ALL files all the time.

I know you can create .info files but it would just be handy for me to have this option set, I find it a bit frustrating, I'm setting up a A2000 with loads of my original amiga games converted to whdload.

Maybe I'm just doing it wrong ;-)

Thanks!

Select "show->all files", then "snapshot" done :)

I swear in OS3.9 the Snapshot feature is wonky.  I think at the time I had the two official Boing Bags installed, and I had to do the snapshot on the window a few times for it to stick.

Of course it's always a strong possibility that I've lost my mind, and just need to look for it.  ;)

If you want to make it REALLY permanent system-wide, you can show all files and snapshot, as described above, then take the .info file for the drawer you were just working in (e.g., get it from the parent directory) and copy it to envarc:sys/def_drawer.info. All new drawers will default to show all files.

That's a really cool idea!

There was a patch-PowerWB I think- which worked in 3.1.  It added two gadgets to every window title bar, one which allowed cycling to show all files and show icons.

The author then added a lot of stuff I didn't want, made it shareware and it stopped it working in 3.9
