Amiga 1200 work with Sony PVM?
« on: July 29, 2015, 06:27:01 PM »
Hi, I'm a bit ignorant in this subject area so I figured I would ask.

I have a rather new Sony PVM (14L2) that does NTSC/PAL. I currently use it for my C64 with S-Video.

Would I be able to use it on my Amiga 1200 as well if I purchase one of those Kipper2k adapters for RGB to S-Video?

This thing has loads of BNC connectors and of course the Y/C connectors.

I was intially going to get the Kipper2k adapter and just use it with the XRGB Mini I have.

Thanks.

yes it should, you would generally get a amiga to vga adapter(silver dongle). then a 15pin vga style to rgb cable with the bnc connectors. rgb will always be your best output on amiga. No need to use svideo

I've found SVGA to BNC RGB cables on eBay.

I see some with 5 BNC connectors. I don't need these right? I think the other 2 connectors are for horizontal and vertical sync. I don't think my PVM has those, just 3 RGB BNC connectors on the back.

Hi Midway, OK, so do you have just the 3 BNC RGB conectors on yours or do you have 1 or 2 more for sync? I did find that I have a connector that says "Ext Sync". I have never seen this on a monitor before so have no clue if it is needed.

Update: I found a place in the UK that makes SCART to Sony PVM (RGB BNC) and an adapter that goes from DB23 (RGB) to SCART. I'm going to try this cable. It has 1 extra "sync" connector which is what I see on the back of my PVM.
