Are you looking for A1200 specific (AGA) titles or games that will run on a 1200, even if they aren't specifically AGA ?

edit: Any particular types of games? Shooters, platformers, rpgs, strategy, sim's, adventure, puzzle, FPS, racing, sports... :)

Various games I've enjoyed: (some classics, some more obscure)

Turrican (1-3, though 2 is the best). Platformer, metroid style
Alien Breed (pretty much all of them. Start with the 92 special edition)
Alien Breed 3D (FPS)
Gloom (FPS)
Superfrog (platformer)
Battle Isle / Historyline (turn based strategy)
UFO enemy unknown (pretty much the best strategy game ever)
Civilization AGA (strategy)
Hired Guns (action RPG first person thingie, amazing once you figure it out)
Super cars 2 (racing game, two player)
Jaguar XJ220, Lotus 2 (more racing games)
Sensible world of soccer (soccer :) )
Speedball 2 (violent sports game)
Warlords (turn based fantasy wargame)
Banshee (AGA, pretty much the best shoot em up ever IMO)
Lemmings 2 (puzzle game)
Beneath a steel sky (adventure game)
Eye of the beholder 1-2 (D&D rpg)
Heimdall 2 (isometric rpg)

Theres a few to get you started :)

These are all games that run on my 1200 without relokick or anything else (though Jaguar you gotta get a cracked version for this). A few of them have HD install options but there's always WHDload I guess

Dune 2 is the first realtime strategy game ever. I didn't see realtime strategy games on Runequester's list.

good catch. Im more of a turn based guy, but Dune 2 is great.
The original Dune is a really fun strategy / adventure game hybrid. Gotta boot up in ECS mode though if you install it.

Dear Friends:

I have good news.
If I save my money I could get an amiga 500 to play old games.
But I just realized I have no more room in my home for another amiga.
I can still save the money !!!
The money I save off a new system..I can spend all to get many games for my a1200 !!!
I can save enough to buy a big collection of amiga 1200 games !!!
Isn't this great ?
Thank you all !!!

Rednova

Awesome :)

There's a few games that won't run on a 1200, but the vast majority works just fine, and there's some cool AGA games and AGA versions.

Do you have a hard drive on your machine ?

Slam Tilt is a /great/ pinball game. Very nice music too.

@Rednova: Sounds like a great setup for the majority of games. Should run some of the FPS types pretty good too.

A few others:

Cannon Fodder and Syndicate (both are pseudo-tactical shoot em up type of games. Hard to explain)

Space Crusade (board game conversation, turn based space marine tactical game, but again, only seems to work with a cracked version)

Lethal Weapon (its kind of a plain platformer, but I enjoyed it a ton)

Shadow of the beast 3 (platform puzzler. Very hard but great atmosphere)

Walker (big robot thing blasting everything in your path)

That's not enough RAM for Total Chaos AGA (It requires 24 Megs Fast RAM minimum, 32 Megs recommended) but it will run the rest of the games mentioned.

actually, he could even run Genetic Species on that

Some more AGA games worth a try:

Guardian
Dreamweb
Chaos Engine AGA
Flyin' High
Simon The Sorcerer
Simon The Sorcerer II
Watchtower
XTreme Racing

For some reason, I really didn't like the AGA version of Chaos Engine. But thats jsut me, its still a killer game.

I'll toss in recommendations for the AGA version of Alien Breed 2. Tower Assault I believe adjusts to whether you are running OCS/ECS or AGA, so no need for separate versions.

no one mentioned Apidya  cant get it work from hd though, well, atleast my old a500 got some life thx to this game :)

anyway, the best thing is to see some youtube movie like "100 amiga games in 10 mins", choose, and play ...

Apidya is really fun. I forgot about it, since for some reason it looks terrible with the scandoubler I use, even though everything else works great.

Nigel Mansell World Championship-there's two Nigel licensed, a crappy one disk version, and a much better two disk version.  I know most won't agree but on a fastish cpu like yours, its the best racing game for an A1200.

Deluxe Pacman

Arcade pool and arcade snooker.

Speedball.

And the king of multiplayer sports: Sensible Soccer, try the newest versions when you get good.

3D FPS: Gloom is fast, original Doom (ADoom is probably the best), Alien Breed 3 D, Nemac IV

Sensible Soccer is extremely much fun in multiplayer. Can even do tournaments and stuff.
