Hello ikir,

Yes, a new batch of Pegasos boards are shipped.
At least I got a confirmation from my dealer about this last friday.
But sometimes it's not the board that gives the delay!
I'm now waiting for my tower and memory to arrive!!

There seems to be a small conflict of information there. I remember reading that pegasos was sold out before christmas, and:

Most importantly, we cannot ship the Pegasos if we cannot make it! We met with Mai at CES and Mai confirmed they will ship the old Articias to us. Once we get them we need to mount them on the April PCB and then the mainboard. We know there is plenty of frustration out there for those of you that want the Pegasos. They will be available again soon.

There might be also some interesting information in the comments section:

Yes I know these messages.
That is why I called my dealer, now two weeks ago, and he said that a new batch was about to being produced in the following week (that is last week :-)) and that he was supposed to get a part of the batch this week.
But he mailed me on friday (last week) that he already got the boards!
And unfortunately for me he's now waiting for my tower and memory! (they're shipped at the beginning of this week but he hasn't got them yet)

Hmmm.... last friday was 24th of January... But OK. Then I would just say that bbrv knows even less about the status of pegasos than Ben H about the status of AOS4....  ;-)     <- THERE is a smiley!

Uuuh guys (and ladies :-)),

I've got to make an correction about the delivery of the next batch.

I just got a mail of my dealer explaining why I got his mail last friday. It turns out I'm getting a Pegasos board of the last batch!

So, I'm sorry for assuming about the new batch, though it did make sense how I came to that conclusion :-)

@ksk

Or perhaps they come from different supply streams?

It would be just as possible for Genesi to have considered
redirecting supply from one place to another, patched up
old boards or used returns to meet some of the demand to
stave off embarrassment.

Or it could be your dealer is telling porkies. Saying the boards
are here just waiting for the non Genesi stuff to stop you going
elsewhere...

Either way, looks like you are getting your board and "beta state"(?)
OS soon which is more than the rest of us are getting with
AOS4 and A1.

<-- twiddles thumbs and looks at ceiling
Hate figure.

MorphOS official release!
« Reply #20 on: January 31, 2003, 09:15:26 AM »
Hi there!

Just a quick note (we can answer more thoroughly this weekend if needed -- we are just really busy today).

Pegasos info from December was accurate then.  ;-)  We made more boards after Aachen and then again in January, but these were in small quantities and went to Developers and a few "important" customers.  We will be making some more boards next week -- still in tens, not hundreds.  We won't produce any more large quantities until we receive the next shipment of Articias.

Concerning MorphOS...the OS comes with the Pegasos.  This will be shipped as a bootable CD along with our DebianPPC distro and Mac-on-Linux.  Today, we provide FTP access to all Pegasos owners for the latest updates.  We did release a new ISO image just before CES.

All this is INCLUDED in the Pegasos purchase.  In the future, we will sell MorphOS alone, but this will be a strategy primarily directed at Apple computer owners and be "hidden" under an application (probably a game), running from a CD (or a plug and play device) and NOT the host hard drive (no partitioning required).  We will work something out for other PPC based platforms too.  As mentioned here and on ANN we already had MorphOS running on the basic version of the A1.

Sincerely,

R&B :-)

SCRATCH that, misread the last sentence ( added a not in ):

"We will work something out for other PPC based platforms too. As mentioned here and on ANN we already had MorphOS running on the basic version of the A1."

I know this man for a long time now, and no, he isn't such a guy, just honest and straight.
(I know, in this world this sounds unbelievable and boring :-))

Cool.

As soon as someone has them in stock, I'll buy one. I was going to preorder, but thought better of it.

I also want to buy a SharkG4 for my 1200. I hope that they will be OS4 compatible and relased of course.

99,99% wth a Shark you'll be able to run only OS4, not MorphOS.

Hmmm, and people complain about the fact that OS4 is only comming out on the AmigaONE. At least Hyperion is activley making a version to run on the Classic systems.

Sorry to sound so negative, having a bad day at work

Yes. It sounds reasonable that some of those were boards that came in when people swapped from non fixed to fixed (April) versions.

Just to clarify:  I am not getting anything untill it is clear what I will get if I buy something.

(I would prefer AmigaOS, but the life is short .... hurry up Hyperion ...)

Ikir, if you buy a Pegasos then you probably won't ever be able to run OS4, even when it does finally come out.

Well, I'm quite confident that - at last when OS4 nears completion - there'll be some third party which will get such an AI-licence, since it seems there are several users interested in OS4 for the Pegasos (me included) and Genesi on the other hand does not care for what one uses the Pegasos-boards once he has bought them.

That's why I - if OS4 would be my main aim - certainly wouldn't buy a, pardon, "LinuxOne" until OS4 will be actually ready. I'd just wait and see.

No, the version for PowerUp boards is just only
available for internal developers/betatesters but has
the same features as the Pegasos version.

Puts official hat on:

OK, Right now we still have some issues with one of the components and aren't making sufficient Pegasos boards to meet demand.  However this will be sorted out one way or the other shortly and we'll have the factory Churning them out.

With a nice new shiny Pegasos you'll get MorphOS and Debian Linux with MacOnLinux.

The aim is to ship MorphOS according to the Features list here:
http://www.blachford.info/morphos/morphos-full-features-list.txt

At the minute MorphOS is not feature complete so you'll get the latest version and will continue to get updates until the feature set has been completed.

--

Note: There will be an update to the Features list in the not too distant future.
