QNX and the internet, wtf!??!
« on: January 08, 2003, 08:39:12 AM »
Ok, I picked up an External USR 56k X2/v90 Fax Modem. I got QNX to go online with it, but now I have the problem of it connecting at a normal speed of 45kbs or what ever, but it runs slow as crap. Another problem is that it randomly pauses during transfers, like you'll be loading a page, then suddenly the RD and SD lights stop flashing, and nothing happens, this also is a pain because it can take up to 15 minutes to download a 700k file off of Aminet, don't even get me started on larger files. :/

The thing is, that it works perfectly under Winblos XP. Anyone have any ideas, or know any init strings I could use on it?

Hmm, well so far so good, I changed the switches on the back of the modem to default factory settings and data terminal ready, now it "seems" to be working perfectly.

I also used the init string AT&F1 just for exta back up.

Hmm, it was working great after I made that one change on the modem, well kinda, it worked better, but then if you tried to browse the web or something while you were downloading, or lets say you were trying to load two pages at once, then it would stop transfers again, and the RD & SD lights would cease to flash.

I like QNX too, but this is pissing me off, the modem works great under winblows, I am using it right now, so it ain't the provider.

I'll try to alter the com ports in QNX and look at some other things, but first off, how do I do that exactly?

I do not know crap about QNX except for what I can click and point at. :/

Ha, check this, I was in the middle of SLOWLY downloading FreeCiv in QNX a second ago, and decided to check up on my post in yahoo groups, when all of a sudden all my windows froze and I could not close then, so I went to exit the Photon session, and my computer froze. :)

I often crash QNX, usually though it is when my AmigaXL is loaded in the background...

...seemless integration of OS's my ass!
