I haven't really been following the vampire much, but, watched a video of it in action on an a600 this evening. I haven't ever owned an A600, so, pardon me if the answer to my question is considered common knowledge. Why isn't it used in the trapdoor expansion port, the way an 1200 uses an accelerator? Is the trap door only capable of addressing memory expansion cards? When I had an a500 over 25 years ago, I only upgraded it via a 512K memory card in the trap door, so, my knowledge of what could be used there is limited to that only. I know the side expansion slot of the 500 could be used for a sidecar hard drive, but, I could never have afforded that back then, so I never researched what else could be used there as well. I *think* the a500 can use an accelerator at the side expansion port, but, I don't know for sure. Is the a600, being a non-AGA machine like the A500, but lacking the side expansion port, only upgradeable in the CPU department by snapping a card directly onto the existing CPU?
Also, will the vampire 1200 use the same method of attachment, or, will it use the 1200's trap door?
