4xIDE Buffered IDE interface for the Commodore-Amiga 1200 or 600.
This high quality adapter permits up to a maxium of four IDE devices to be connected to the motherboard's IDE header with full buffering.
Features 2x 40-pin boxed IDE connectors (primary/secondary) and 1x boxed 44-pin IDE connector (primary).
Coming soon: For Amiga 1200 users, an optional Gayle adapter board can be purchased separately to speed up IDE transfers. It simply plugs onto the top of the Gayle chip and connects to the buffered IDE interface with the supplied ribbon cable.
To use the secondary port on ROM 2.0, 3.0 or 3.1, the IDEFIX software package should be installed.
Large hard drives with capacity over 4GB supported on OS 3.5, 3.9 and 4.1.
This interface is fully buffered. Features insulation on underside of PCB to protect the adapter. Supplied with 44-pin IDE cable and printed manual.
This adapter can be used in both a desktop or tower case.
Unlike some hobbyist IDE adapters, this advanced, modern design inhibits read errors and false IRQ's.

Nice, I buy one when I can get it with Gayle adapter. Basicly this is very similar than Idefix express?
-
We need to put it through production in China this month.
We have another release this week to get out of the way first.
Thanks for your patience.

Here is the screen grab of the forthcoming 4xIDE Prefs software to configure the adapter:

Are things getting back to normal with your manufacturig partners in China?
-
Yes getting that way- we have a large consignment arriving tomorrow which will be exciting ! A new A1200 product with some nice features at a low price.

How would the performance of this new kit with the optional Gayle adapter stack up to, say, the Elbox Fast ATA? The Elbox FastATA controller has a max transfer rate of 16 MB/s in PIO 4 mode. What might the max transfer rate of your new kit be? I like the fact that it doesn't sit under the ROM chips.

@giZmo350
The FastATA will be faster due to it having 32-bit transfer rates so will remain the fastest IDE interface on the market for the Amiga.
This new interface is designed to be a mid-performance solution for a low price.

I noticed the optional Gayle adapter for the A1200. What kind of performance gain is expected from this adapter? And I wondered; why is this adapter only for the A1200? As far as I know, the A600 has a Gayle chip as well.
-
Hi
I think we are expecting 2 to 4 Mb/sec - this depends on the file system you are using, buffers allocated to the drive and speed of CPU.
-
Would the gayle add-on work with an Amiga 600 with a vampire
-
No.
Different gayles.

Picked one of these up whilst in Ireland. Looking forward to the Gayle adaptor coming out. Will sure to pick one up when I see Matthew at the next (hopefully) amiga event!
-
Thanks so much! We hope to put it into production soon.

Are you going to make the IDEFIX express? Will this work if I put my 1200 in a tower?
Thanks!
