Amiga license agreement 2009

Hi all,

By now the only problem of Amiga Inc and Mike battilana is license agreement of hyperion entertainment.

By now hyperion is the proprietary of amigaos and future of amigaos.

Why not create a group to buy property of amigaos and make it opensource?

What you suggest is exactly what Mike Battilana is attempting to do.

Sigh.

He seems more interested in suing the ones doing the actual development, and milking the nostalgia market for all it's worth, than doing anything that would actually help.

I very much doubt he has any real intention of open sourcing AmigaOS.

@Minuous
He would do it just to spite you. Reaction will remain property of Hyperion though, so no worries.

Battialana want property of amigaos but hyperion don't want collaborate.
Battilana want open source parts of amigaos
Battilana want collaborate with community

Hyperion, Ben Hermans want only litigate and create problems.
He's an advocate and hyperion is an empty company
Many developers of amigaos wait payments

I see this thread is full of the usual incorrect information. It is of course Cloanto that has been litigating, you will see them named as "Plaintiff" on the court documents, and it is Hyperion that has countless times tried to come to some sensible agreement.

As for AmigaOS becoming open source, that would not be spiting me, as I don't have any objection to that. It seems a bit pointless, as those have the desire and skills to improve the OS are already doing so, and it probably wouldn't be of much use to anyone else, but not something I would object to.

Sorry but after reading all documents
https://sites.google.com/site/amigadocuments/

i understand that hyperion is not collaborating
Battilana said that found an agreement but after some day hyperion refused to collaborate.

Try read amiga documents and listen video of battilana https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uY0n4ucx0wo&t=2s

But Reaction is not AmigaOS and will remain property of Hermans.

Hello,
Your opinion is that creating a group to buy AmigaOS assets and make it open source is an interesting idea. However, the implementation of this idea can face some difficulties and challenges. First, the acquisition of AmigaOS assets can require a substantial amount of money, so finding the right financing to make this transaction possible may not be easy. Second, making AmigaOS open source may also require consent from stakeholders, including Amiga Inc and Hyperion. You mentioned that Amiga Inc and Mike Battilana's only issue was the Hyperion entertainment licensing agreement. Therefore, convincing these stakeholders to accept the open source idea may not be easy. Finally, making AmigaOS open source also requires ongoing management, maintenance, and development. This requires a large and passionate community, along with commitment and support from the developers. Establishing and maintaining a large open source community can be challenging.

That’s not entirely true, there are quite a few who have lots of skill and quite a bit of desire, but who just don’t find the current terms and conditions acceptable, and don’t want to get entangled with the current mess. So you simply don’t hear from them.
