Bug in AmiUpdate 2.39?
« on: January 01, 2020, 04:01:26 PM »
System: WinUAE running AmigaOS 4.1 Update 8 (PPC604e with 128 MB FAST RAM)
AmiUpdate version 2.39

Problem: Trying to upgrade to Final Edition update 1 via AmiUpdate, but due to some bug in AmiUpdate it only saves and unpacks the file to RAM: which causes RAM to go down to zero.

I've configured AmiUpdate to save to System:temp, but still it both downloads and unpacks to RAM: for some reason.

Is it possible to run any higher version of AmiUpdate than 2.39 on 4.1 update 8?

Any other hints?

Managed to manually upgrade to 2.47.

But of course it still can't unpack, and when that fails ("Cannot unpack this for you") it asks: "Do you want to save this file to RAM: ?" even though I have configured it to download and unpack the files to System:Temp.

When I answer Yes the file is kept in RAM:, but when I try to open the file UnARC claims it's corrupted. I've downloaded it 5-6 times.

Not sure about AmiUpdate in this scenario, but you can download Update 1 from Hyperion’s website and install it the old-fashioned way.
