Transatlantic shipping?
« on: May 31, 2004, 12:27:58 PM »
I'm asking because you guys are occasionally wise and my forehead is bruised from banging it against the desk, trying to get something approaching a conclusive answer on the net.

So... A friend from California offered me her old bass guitar. Leaving the "whoa" factor of that aside for a minute, has anyone sent anything like this from the US to the UK? My gut feeling is that the shipping charges would make it a pointless exercise, but I have to ask. It probably weighs something in the region of 15kg.

Any thoughts?

To send as "small" (?) parcel you are allowed up to 32kgs..  I sent a suitcase over to Australia weighing EXACTLY that,  by air,  and it cost £145

I sent a Genlock to Aussie weighing around 5kgs and it cost £35 (iirc ..no more than £40)  to someone on this very site !!

Probably cost you around £60 .. How is she going to package it is the big question ... you really dont want it to have a snapped head when you receive it !!

Also make sure that it's marked as a gift or you may be liable for taxes.
