Greetings!
« on: April 09, 2004, 07:47:29 PM »
Well, I've been lurking these boards for a long time now so I thought it was about time to register and say hello. :-D

I started with the Amiga back when the 500 was released and I was one of the first to buy an A1200 from my local dealer.  I used an Amiga as my primary computer until some time in '95.  A few weeks ago I recovered my 1200 from the closet and began tinkering again.  I'm in the process of gathering parts to install a CDROM, larger harddrive, more memory, network and OS 3.9 etc.

As soon as AmigaOS4 comes out I'll be buying an AmigaOne.

Amiga 500 GVP A530 Accel + SCSI2SD + 8 MB RAM and OS 2.04
Amiga 1200 GVP \\\'030 Accel + 32 MB RAM and OS 3.9 BB3
Amiga 4000 Cybervision 64/3D Mk-II + Warp Engine 4040 128 MB RAM and OS 3.9 BB3
Micro A1 866 Mhz and AmigaOS 4.1
PowerMac G4 1.4 Ghz and MorphOS 3.9
Mac Mini G4 1.5 Ghz and MorphOS 3.9

It's quite warming to see people who used to be Amiga users coming back to the platform because they miss it.

I think the Amiga has more friends in the computing world than we currently realise, and if we could just get ourselves out there - put us back on the map, we'd start getting some real attension again!

What we need is to come up with something really innovative.  Let's hope this KMOS bunch really know what they're doing.

we don't have to depend on KMOS. we have several amiga projects going - AROS, of course and the emulations.
WinUAE is easily quite useful right now. I can't see why everyone would want to have it. And I don't use it for games - i use it for IFX and ZoneXplorer mostly.

with just a bit of effort anyone can have a really cool Amiga experiance on almost any hardware.

THAT'S the real message to all those "former" Amiga people out there.

I've been running WinUAE for a while now.  Have a nice setup with OS 3.9 installed.  However, I would much rather have AmigaOS running natively on an AmigaOne.  :-) I want a Windoze/--NIX free machine.

sure, so do I. my point is that now "Amiga" is more than just one OS on one type of system.
I have my WinUAE on my laptop. which means my amiga is portable!
Even if I get an AmigaOne with OS4, I'll NOT be getting rid of the emulation!
It's way too convenient!

And I already have a Pre-April Peg. They each have something interesting and useful about them.
why limit yourself.
that's MY point!
