Apollo Vampire V1200 V2 dead
« on: November 16, 2021, 09:53:32 PM »
I have a Vampire V1200 V2 in my A1200, it worked fine for almost a year and now with nothing changed it is dead. The machine does not boot up with it installed, instead it displays a blue screen when powered up or garbage (like the decompression lines from compressed games). No floppy seek, no HD seek, no activity from either. Removing the Vampire restores the A1200 to functionality and it boots normally. Tried another A1200, different revision, and same thing, no boot but boots fine with Blizzard 1260. So it's clear that the Vampire is faulty somehow. Visual inspection found nothing amiss, and like I said, this exact config worked in the past.

I reached out to Apollo Team but so far crickets. I'm somewhat disappointed that after several days of waiting I have heard nothing from them at all.

Any thoughts as to what might be causing the issue or how to fix it?

The attached images shows what the screen looks like when the system is powered up with the Vampire installed.

It's a long shot but maybe use the BLaster and reprogram the core/flash?

Nevermind, found the guide. I'll give it a shot, at this point there isn't much to lose as the Apollo Team is completely MIA.
Thanks and wish me luck!

If it ends up being faulty, did you buy it with a payment method that has protection? If necessary claim the money back.

I know this won't give you a working accelerator but at least you won't lose out completely.

Although the new website doesn't have the links yet, they say you can get the Apollo cores from the Discord server.  http://www.apollo-computer.com/coresdrivers.php

The good news is that Igor responded to me and said he'll get it resolved, just need to do some troubleshooting for him.

Why do people insist on distributing things through Discord? I'm not a fan of it but if I have to go that route I will. Thanks!
