Adelaide Retro Computing Meeting - Friday September 16
« on: September 14, 2016, 06:44:45 AM »
Time: 7:30pm
Date: 16th September 2016
Location: Eastwood Community Centre Hall - 95 Glen Osmond Road, Eastwood SA 5063

Cost of entry is $3 per person.

Participants are encouraged to bring their Vintage Computers/Consoles along to create a show-and-tell atmosphere.

September's Adelaide Retro Computing event will focus on people bringing in Commodore Amiga or Next Generation Amiga systems!

This includes Classic Commodore Amiga 500/600/1000/1200/2000/3000/4000/CDTV/CD32 systems, as well as Next Generation Amigas like AmigaOS 4, MorphOS and AROS based systems, and even Classic Amigas reimplemented in FPGA like the MiniMIG, FPGA Arcade, and MIST systems. Emulated Amiga systems using WinUAE or FS-UAE are also welcome.

If you don't have one of these then any retro computer or gaming system is fine: Apple, IBM, Nintendo, Commodore, we want to see them all. We'd especially like to see stuff we haven't seen before, so no matter how obscure it is, we want to see it.

If you don't have anything to bring in that's fine, we'd like to see as many people attend to spectate as those with displays.

We request that Retro systems be dated 2000 or earlier.

For this meeting we have two special guests, Trevor Dickinson from A-EON Technology (he is based in NZ) and Robert Bernardo from the USA, both flying into Adelaide especially for this meeting!

Trevor will be doing a presentation on the latest update on all things A-EON Technology (NG Amiga systems, AMIStore, Enhancer and more). Robert will be doing a presentation on his background in using Commodores and Amigas since 1983, including all the shows and Commodore/Amiga celebrities he has met over many years of covering these shows!

A popular feature of recent events has been a two player retro gaming competition. We'll be doing this again. We'll have the projector setup with a retro gaming system. This month's game will be an Amiga game so get practising!

We will provide some space for meeting attendees wanting to sell any of their Retro equipment during the event! This could be the perfect opportunity to sell your unused equipment to a retro system enthusiast to give it a new life!

Aron and his soldering table should be available for this meeting.

**If you are bringing machines along, please arrive at 7pm to set-up before the event starts. Thank you.**
**Extension cables/power-boards are needed to bring to make sure you are able to connect your equipment up!**

There is strictly no admittance into the venue prior to 7pm please. If you arrive earlier, then please wait outside until 7pm before entering the venue. This is to allow sufficient time for the group board members to set up the hall before letting people in.

As mentioned there is a $3 entry fee to cover costs of room hire, etc.

For directions to the Eastwood Community Centre please visit our website at http://adelaideretrocomputing.blogspot.com.au/ and click on Meeting Location for directions.

We will provide Coffee/Tea :)

We look forward to seeing you all there!

Hi All,

Today I wrote a new blog entry covering the September 2016 Adelaide Retro Computing event with an Amiga theme.

Special guests were Trevor Dickinson from A-EON Technology and Robert Bernardo from Fresno Commodore Users Group in the USA! Trevor gave an excellent presentation on the night and there are lots of photos!

Link is here:

Hope you enjoy it and hopefully we'll see you at our next event!  :-)

Catcha,
