Odyssey Web Browser 1.24 released!
« on: April 17, 2014, 09:07:56 PM »
Version 1.24 of the Odyssey Web Browser has been released!

Changes:

  - Updated to WebKit r161078 (January 2014).
  - Updated to OpenSSL 1.0.1g (which improves the SSL test at https://www.howsmyssl.com/).
  - Compiled with GCC 4.7.3, since WebKit now relies strongly on C++11 features.
  - Fixed an issue with large file support in CURL (fixes mail.one settings validation, for instance).
  - Enabled WebP support again, it seems it had been disabled at some point.
  - Enabled RequestAnimationFrame HTML5 feature.
  - Added support for HTML5 "download" link attribute.
  - Convert suggested download filenames to local charset.
  - Adjusted Expect: 100 header handling (fixes easy-jet flight selection, for instance).
  - Fixed CSS animation support (i.e http://www.morphos.net flying powerbook).

Thanks for the continued updates Fab!

Compiled with GCC 4.7.3

Does this mean we can look forward to an updated SDK in the near future?

Well, have a look at the answer from jacadcaps here

OTOH I think I recall Fab stating somewhere that he is using Linux on x86 for his webkit work. I could remember it wrong of course. But I suppose webkit is a massive beast where cross compiling on a system as fast as possible makes sense?

I just want to be able to use -march=native that came with gcc 4.7 so I can squeeze every last bit of performance out of my G4. :)

Do you know where I can get the x86 cross-compiler tool chain from?

just wanna mention that deadwood is in process of porting odyssey 1.24 to aros and hopes for including it into the contribs which should make it available for aros68k as well. there are no promises as to if and how well it will work, but i think, given that aros owb is working on amiga with some caveats, that it might be usable at least under emulation if not on high end 68k hardware.

The goal is to have the features that are in MorphOS version working under AROS including HTML video. So far it is a re-compilation with features similar to version 1.16 but with newer HTML/JavaScript engine.

The first public version will be made available in Icaros 2.0. The port will require latest nightly build to run.

If you would like to support this effort please consider donating to the following bounty: http://power2people.org/projects/zune-enhancement/

yes. and i think it isnt a huge matter since zune had been already updated enough to fulfill the odyssey 1.16 requirements.
