I found the Amibay community more detestable than the ebay community, tbh.

Tried doing business (buying) once there, got turbonerded by a bunch of aggro dickheads.  Won't go back.

Not sure what the hell you mean.  They have a set of rules to make the place fair for everyone.  It's not very hard to follow.  Many people (like me) don't read all the rules and are given a warning when a simple rule is broken.  So the only problem I had there was self-imposed by my ignorance.  Overall, it has been an excellent experience for me.  Two thumbs up!  I have not had a bad transaction there yet.  I cannot say the same for eBay.

I have one...
External Amiga drive for just $200.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Supra-Drive-Commodore-Amiga-NEW-/220976687984?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item33733cab70

That's no good, if you read the description you will see it is a 3.25" drive so our disks will not work in it. :)

My experience with Amibay was not with the site officially, but a select group of users there.  This was several years ago, before I bought my SAM 440.  I'd gotten out of the Amiga scene in the early 90's when CBM flubbed everything, and I was fresh back looking for a new machine and saw a pretty kitted out A1200 for sale.  I'd never owned a 1200 before, much less one with a PPC and BVision.

I asked a few simple questions in an extremely friendly tone, explaining I was not terribly familiar with the wedge Amigas specifically, and that I was returning to the "scene".  No 2000 word TL;DR essay involved, just a simple question on the system for sale. Valid questions, not a derail of a thread.  I was chided relentlessly, even to the point of one of the users PM'ing me (a user who coincidentally was also interested in the system for sale) calling me an idiot, telling me I was wasting peoples time with valid questions.  Questions other people were also asking, the only difference being I was the "new guy".

Just wanted to clarify that Amibay itself may be great to deal with, but what occurred when I went there with good intentions I got the "go away, noob" old boy routine and it left a horribly bad taste in my mouth from a few select users.  I bought a PPC/040 A1200 with a BVision in it a few weeks later for far cheaper, so not all was lost.
