I suppose I'll be hitting up Ebay this Thursday night and making my self a purchase.

Can anyone give me one good reason not to? Emulation is supposed to still fly on a mere 1.2Ghz, later era PPC games appear to be working, the damn things are going for under $100 and MorphOS is available for $50 atm. I think Amiga users would have to be either very bull headed, or insane to pass this up right now. Especially now that I know the license can be transferred to another unit should the eMac die.

Actually it is on sale for 111.11EUR (approximately $135 in USD). 8 months ago it would have cost $225, when not on sale and with a worse exchange rate.

Guess that's where the "Delusion" in XDelusion comes from!  $50 would be quite a bargain.

Funny enough though, about 4 hours after i won the auction for my emac, i received this following message.

"i am very sorry the unit that you purchased was dropped and i have smashed it.

I apologize for this but there is nothing i am able to do

i understand if you are unhappy but it was an accident

very sorry"

Yeah right it got smashed. I replied that i dont care that the emac was smashed as i wanted it for some internal boards and want to pick it up asap. I am yet to hear from the seller.

The problem with that is if he didn't really drop it, he may drop it intentionally if forced to ship it  But seriously, who knows. I have had bad things happen to me on occasion and had buyers simply refusing to believe the explanation.

If you are in the USA, eMacs are dirt cheap buy-it-now on eBay. Shipping will at least double the cost, these are very heavy suckers. I found out the hard way how heavy they are when I bought this one at the flea market and had to carry it 1/4 mile back to my car in the blazing sun. Even still, I see them available for about $100 including shipping on eBay.

haywirepc & XDelusion

I just got it up and running, installation was smooth with no real hitches. I did have a problem with a stanrd PC keyboard, I couldn't get the CD drive to eject. I borrowed the wife's Apple keyboard and no problem. This isn't a MorphOS problem, but just a niggle of Mac hardware.

I will play with this some more and give some impressions later. So far it is freaking flying! Feels good, especially te price!!!
I am using a pc keyboard with a mac right now, so as long as the keyboard is usb it should work. The only difference is the keybindings are different. For instance instead of pressing control-c to copy text, you press windows key-c. Atleast that's how it is in OSX. This should help.

Good call Red. Right now, the 1.25 Mhz eMac is the cheapest system that will run MorphOS. Currently, there are a few on Ebay and one starts at under $15 (of course shipping makes that quite a bit higher).
I'm looking forward to Powermac support too, but rumor has it that the development team may only support the MDD models.
Personally, I'm hoping they'll support the Quicksilver Powermac as well since there are more third party CPU upgrades for that model.

COmplain to eBay,maybe they will ban the seller.

Well I just won a 1.25ghz emac on ebay for £8.50

So £120 for a morphOS machine seems a serious bargain, damm, cheaper than my IMICA.

I will report back soon.

By the way, there are loads left.
Amiga 1000/3000, iMica Silent and NVidia Aros computer.

Now that's what they call "sweat equity" in the eMac investment!  Seriously, that was a good deal.  I looked on Craigslist here and couldn't find a 1.25 model that was even close...one wanted $200!

I have a Snowball iMac that I'd like to use but I doubt it would be supported.  My twin G5 also seems to be headed toward the heap since Apple appears near to dropping support.

Perhaps, eventually, they' move up to the G5...

@ beller

There are currently two 1.25 Ghz eMacs listed on the ebay USA website. The sellers ask for 100 USD for each machine and approximately 25 USD for shipping (within the US). With regard to the total cost, that is quite close to the numbers redrumloa mentioned.

Things happen.  I sold a Sega CD unit on eBay and decided to have one last play while I waiting for payment to arrive (pre-PayPal).  When setting it up I accidentally plugged in the wrong power adapter which instantly fried it!  :madashell:  I was out ~$90 + eBay fees + I reimbursed the guy for the money order fee.  :(
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(
