New games?
« on: April 09, 2010, 10:32:55 AM »
What kind of new games do people want to see on the Amiga?

Japanese style shmups (R Type)?

Platformers?

digital comics (point/click adventures, or Zork likes)

RPGs?

vroom vroom car games?

I ask because soon I may try doing a game for Amiga, and would rather make something people are interested in, instead of something only I give a damn about.

Though, I am doing PC-Engine and MSX development as well, so my plates sorta full.  But there will be room for Amiga!
I am a negative, rude, prick.

you mean like Turrican only not crappy? :)

I could do it code-wise, but as far as graphics, euhhh, Ima have to find me an artist, because I can't do art for shit!

I am new to Amiga hardware so a few baby steps might have to happen, but, I could see it happening

Yeah pretty much.

What I do is sketch out the objects/figures on graph paper then you can draw it pixel by pixel on Deluxe Paint and edit how you like. Check out the Amiga Festive Game Competition thread, one them might be available.

"...only not crappy" ? LOL prepare to be flamed :D

I prefer RPGs or adventure games (graphic or IF doesn't matter). Something with a strong story.

What's wrong with Turrican?
If you do not like Turrican try Ruff 'n' Tumble, it feels a bit like Metal Slug :) (don't flame me, I know alot of people hate Ruff 'n' Tumble)

Also I would love to see a new RPG for the Amiga!

there is a turrican fangame called hurrican that has awesome graphics, cool music and sound effects, and nearly flawless gameplay.
i'd like to see something like that using a super powered amiga classic, winuae, and aros

Turrican is hard, but I like it a lot. One Amiga game that I think is overrated is the Shadow of the Beast stuff. Gorgeous graphics, sound and atmosphere, but where's the game? Not much of one if you ask me.

I'd like to see a fancy/well done Amiga version of Contra III and Castlevania X someday...

first time i played shadow of the beast i thought that very thing.
one thing i really hate is button for fire and up for jump games. there are some great games for the amiga with that control scheme and it just ruins it for me.
a hires high color version of castlevania with good controls would be great. i always liked bloodlines for the genesis

Are you talking about a new game for classic machines or for OS4.x ?

Definitely Zork-Like. I mean, not Zork-like in the treasure-hunting cave-crawling sense (though those are also wellcome :-) ) but in the "more text than graphic" oriented one. In fact I've got 3 different text adventure ongoing projects. One is a remake for the retro-remix comp so it is meant to be released soon. Other is some more brief chapters following the christmas text adv I made for last Christmas comp (which arrived late to join the comp but is available anyway) which will form a whole complete christmas story sometime before next christmas. A third one is something I've been cooking for long with a much more polished and complex parser which sadly only works in spanish at this point.

Anyway, just any kind of adventure (text, graphic, RPG...) for classic Amiga models will make me happy!

World of Warcraft!

On a 68000 with 1meg of RAM. No wait, 512k but enhanced with extra RAM. It should have a collectors edition suitcase to hold the hundreds of floppies too. :)
