Maybe you could try installing ClassicWB, there's a pack specifically tweaked for 2MB A600s with Kickstart 2.

I highly recommend a Kickstart ROM/EPROM upgrade to 3.1, and a 2MB or 4MB PCMCIA SRAM card, which will speed up your A600 as well as give you some easily swappable extra RAM.

Here's a screenshot from my A600 which has Kickstart 3.1 and a 2MB SRAM card.

I agree with Cammy.
The ClassicWB packs are great..
Although I do have to admit, there's something about that ClassicWB shot that bothers me..
Not sure...
Something about the color scheme...

An OS shouldn't be Green?  Who would make a Green Desktop???  That's crazy..
Only a really lame computer would want a little green desktop as their base..

Hmm..
Not sure why I think that..   ;-)

This... is one of the 2 versions of ClassicWB 68k.
http://classicwb.abime.net/classicweb/68k.htm

The normal one is blue and you can see a really quick and simple video I made some time ago using it under Chameleon 64: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U89WNP26b6M
The green one is a special version that Bloodwych dedicated to Paul the Green Amiga Alien who sadly is no longer with us :(
