Lunapaint v0.2.2 is released
« on: August 20, 2006, 01:50:45 AM »
Lunapaint v0.2.2 is a major release showing off some of the features that will define v0.3 (at the painting level). It completely outdates any previous release with superior painting capabilities and stability. This version is mature enough for you to start doing serious painting work, and will make AROS a productive environment for you!

Make isometric graphics, pixelled animations or just plain painted images.
Lunapaint v0.2.2 can be downloaded from the Aros archives (http://archives.aros.org) or from the Lunapaint website, where you'll also find an updated screenshot (http://www.sub-ether.org/lunapaint).
Happy painting! And remember to contact the author if you have any questions or if you just want to rub his feet! (which he receives with gratitude!)

Its very cool that Aros has an app like this.

If I had any visual art skills I'd be all over it. :-D

.edit.

Lame. What's the use of those pics as screen shots if they weren't painted with the program?

The author (m0ns00n) asked me to clarify something:

"Reply to the news post of Lunapaint that the images shown in the screenshots are photos imported as raw64. They were taken randomly from the web and converted with image2raw, the small linux command line app I made which you can download on the lunapaint website [download section].

The image import functionality which can read png, jpg etc is not available in Lunapaint yet and won't be before v0.3 most probably.

Right now Lunapaint only reads .lun and raw64 (64-bit raw data)".

:)

It dosent support AmigaOS 3.x, AmigaOS 4 or MorphOS. AROS isnt what I would call a market ;P and its wrong supporting AROS only. m0ns00n should have released this for all Amiga related platforms.

all works on all of the Amiga platforms. So, if m0ns00n wants bugreports, he should consider supporting other than just AROS.

And why is that wrong? why should he support platforms he no longer have/use? you might have zero interest in AROS so you nagg he didnt make it for your choice(s) but did it strike you maybe he has zero interest in your choice(s)?.

I wouldn't call it wrong, I just wouldn't say it is a sensible choice...

AROS supporters have asked coders of apps to port their wares to AROS over the years. Some have said yes, some have said no.  It's up to the individual coder if they want to put the time and effort into such a port.  Add in different platforms requesting to be supported, some rare, some rare and out of date and expected these part time coders to afford (or have a want for another platform) another platform they do not have any use for is just not going to happen.

Talked to a Peg coder (and no x86) who wanted to code for AROS.  Not much he can do unless he runs a x86 emulator (AROS PPC Hosted is too unstable for significant coding project).  Just smile and drive on.

@AmiDelf/Amix/AmiWhatever:

Asking for pirated OS4 and calling it wrong to only support the authors plattform of choice, all in a few hours. Just because you can't run programs on *your* chosen plattform. Live with your choice, and btw, the source code is there. Do some good yourself...

Hey! The webserver I'm using seems to be suffering. I will give it some hours before I contact the admins. It's hosted by servetheworld.com...

Here's a screenshot from v0.2.2:

EDIT: Site is up again now :-)

If it is a market you are aiming at, you should release the program for Windows (though, then you would have to compete with all the other similar applications). I don't see your point?

There is nothing wrong with releasing a program for AROS only. If that is what you feel like doing. Maybe the author has no interest in AOS or MorphOS. Maybe the release was meant to draw some attention to AROS. One does have a choice, you know.
Amiga 1200, Mirage Tower, PC-Key 1200, Blizzard 1260/50, SCSI Kit, 256MB RAM, 40GB HD, Mediator SX, Soundblaster 128, Voodoo 3 and Realtek 8139.
