In the interest of supporting the Amiga community, Amiga.org and the Amiga Wiki project have joined forces to promote a living, evolving knowledge base about the Amiga computer.

Our goal is to help cover everything between the Amiga's history, to it's capabilities and differences, to it's very future in one single place.  Over the coming weeks (time pending), I hope to create new links on Amiga.org to both provide everyone with direct links to the content at AmigaWiki.com, as well as to devise a program to solicit help from every Amiga.org user to help "fill in the blanks" until the AmigaWiki.com site fulfills it's true potential as a repository of information.

This is a collaborative effort between Alex Whittaker and Wayne Hunt, though each will retain complete control over their own respective projects.  To further this effort and enhance communication between the two efforts, Alex is being invited to join the staff at Amiga.org.

If you have any ideas of constructive comment, please let us know.

Alex can be reached at alex@amigawiki.com, while Wayne is, as always, at wayne@amiga.org

That's GREAT news!!!

I have one question though...

Will the new site have a "hardware book" of amiga stuff? I mean from accelerators to genlocks.

I can really help in that! I have lots of stuff to photo if you are intrested  :-)

We've always had a hardware section (here) however it doesn't have very much at the moment (my knowledge of Amiga hardware is pretty patchy, and we haven't had many other contributers - that should change now, however :-D

I'm afraid that, for the moment at least, we cannot use images.  While it's possible to display an image from an external site, I'd rather not do this, since the rest of the web will evolve over time, breaking the images.  Preferably I'd have a system like Wikipedia, where images are uploaded to our server under an open license (that's the long-term intention).  The Wiki engine has such functionality, but I'll wait a bit before activating it (there are bandwidth and storage considerations).

---edit---

Forgot to add (DJBase just reminded me) the Big Book of Amiga Hardware and the Amiga Hardware Database are both excellent resources that are probably more suited to this type of task at present.
