PVR, DVB, VOD, ETC ;-) - AROS is just something for the mid- till long-term; adding some basic homecomputer-functionality as a linux-hosted bonus for our customers. Once - looong-term - AROS can provide the same functionality as Linux to our STB software, one could consider a native version, too, of course, for giving our customers an alternative OS choice. But that are dreams of the future for now, obviously.

Sounds good. Do you have this hardware up and running now, even just as a STB with Linux?

What will you use AROS for? Well, I suppose you could put ScummVM and MAME on it, and then license various games and add some game functionality!

Surely AROS would bring the "multimedia" element to the product.  AROS is a more capable implementation of our old Workbench based Miggies and look what they could do.

What a catch.  The first true "multimedia" capable OS breathing new life into modern technology.

Yes, up and running under Linux. For its upcoming issue (published mid of March), the german print magazine "Amiga Plus" has analyzed one of our prototypes already very thoroughly.

While they had valid points regarding the "Mediathek", on which the developers still have some work to do, the actual STB functionality seems to have satisfied them, and a few extras they seem to consider quite valueable.

The basic homecomputer-capability, though, is still being worked on - and that AROS on our board is not around the corner yet should be obvious. In the beginning, it will just be a little bonus for the customers to play around with if they want. But in the mid- till long-term... - well, we will see. :-)

AROS also has the advanatage that the PPC version could have a high degree of ABI compatibility with MOS and OS4 (look at the 0s4emu on MOS and the MOSemu on OS4)... this would allow purchacer of the AHT STB to run their OS4 and MOS software on a relativly cheap box, multi purpose box.

AROS also gives AHT "their own OS" bonus, allowign them to customise it to suit their needs, it's also quite a bit smaller than Linux.
