OS 4.0 Demonstration TODAY, Ottawa, Canada
« on: July 26, 2003, 01:26:35 PM »
Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
Amiga.info

At 2:00pm (EDT) today, there will be a demonstration of OS4.0 on PPC, and an AmigaOne system by Justin Hemmings of Livewire Systems and Adam Kowalczyk of ACK Software Controls who is driving up from Fonthill, Ontario.

The location for this event is the Royal Oak basement (161 Laurier Avenue East).  The demonstration will take place at 2 p.m., and if you are hungry, feel free to show up between 1-1:30 p.m.

We will be taking pictures and getting them online as soon as we can.

Directions:
From the Queensway (highway 417), take the Nicholas exit from either East or West.

When you arrive at the lights (Laurier Street), turn RIGHT (East) on to Laurier.

You will come to a second set of lights (Transitway), continue straight.  The next light will be a cross-walk, and the next one will be Cumberland.   The Royal Oak  (161 Laurier East) is in the block after Cumberland on the left (North) side of the road.

Hoody-hoo!  This is going to be pretty cool.  I'm looking forward to seeing it ... and to think, I don't have to drive over 3,000 kilometers to AmiWest to see it happen.  More like half a kilometer.  :-P

Would you mind doing a decent write-up of what you see?  As many accounts/opinions as possible is always useful.

Just minutes ago, I returned from the Amiga.info OS 4.0 CSPPC / AmigaOne Demo.  Yes, for those of you who can count, that almost 11 hours - a very hands-on experience for everyone that was there.

Two meals, one snack, several ice teas, waters, and I'm not entirely sure how much beer of OS 4.0. ;-)

I will try to write something up tomorrow, as I am now exhausted.

I have just made it back home from this event. ;)

During the course of the demo, we've gutted two Mediator 4000's, dissassembled a mouse, swapped harddrive cables back and forth, dealt with harddrives with four or five partitions with the same volume name...

Umm...  I'll let AmiNTT post his report. :P

OS4 was running on a CSPPC A4000 in an Elbox Mirage 4000 Pro tower with Mediator PCI and a Voodoo3 PCI graphics card.  Workbench v50.2 never looked so good!

OS4 brings the AmigaOS into this decade.  Looking forward to the continued good work from Hyperion!
