Can we get back on-topic here, without the implied accusations without base?

What is "Phoenix"?

Am I to assume that this is a closed organization and that an outsider (like me) can't purchase a motherboard for the $299?

I never really looked at the Pegasos/MorphOS thing until this press release (everything on the message boards has been way too ugly for me to read).

Looking at the features list, I'm suddenly interested. I didn't really realize how far along the product was.

"A whole 20 wow."

Plus the 600 already sold, WOW!  I just do not get it.  600+ plus boards, like that is really something?  Whoa, one day there maybe 10,000, look out MS.

See phinixi.com. It's a "developers organization" for what you might call "post-Amiga" computer projects. The definition of developer is very broad, though, and includes roles like journalists, resellers, betatesters, translators and so on in addition to coders. So it isn't really all that exclusive. (There are working groups within Phoenix that are more closed, though.)

For Rose and others from a post a couple of months ago here on amiga.org...

...Within a true "Community" of people of course there are differences.  There *can* be different hardware, there can be different operating systems, and there should be different opinions about many things.  Let us not forget we are human, computers are not.  If we can share our differences intelligently with mutual respect for the dignity of others all these sites will improve in their usefulness.

We think there is far to much unnecessary "flaming" on all the sites.  We have been a part of it.  We reacted in kind.  We have never been intimidated by any of it and we simply will not allow FUD to remain unanswered.  What will stand in truth and fact in the future will be the action and the results developed by all involved.  If your looking for "measure" we are ready for judgment. We can talk about it and genuinely seek to be the best we can at all we do.  If your looking for a fight and you are bent on insults and personal attacks, take it somewhere else.

The "thread wars" are over.  We need to work.  Our future is on the road ahead.  We can see where we are going and know how to get there.

Lastly Rose, have you noticed there is a Rebol mailing list on Phoenix and that we have an initiative with Rebol.  Ask yourself why?  Also, Jolyon Ralph formerly of Almathera is on the Executive Committee of the Phoenix GameTeam working on the Phoenix Pegasos STB initiative.  Here is a statement from Jolyon that appeared on the mailing list in February:

"Oh, and a quick word about the rumours about Almathera/Viscorp - a lot of things were said about the demise of Almathera and VisCorp's part in it, some attributed to me, which were simply not true. If they were true I wouldn't be so happy to be working with Bill again, and I'm certainly happy to!"

OK, back to work.

Sincerely,

Raquel and Bill  :-)
Genesi

Well as long as it takes.

I had no serious interest in MOS when it was announced way back when, and I still have no serious interest in MOS.

A personal choice.

Hey Raquel and Bill

How would you fancy donating one of those lovely Peg boards to the AROS team?

"I'll get me coat..."  :-D  :-D  :-D  :-D

Hi Matt, OK.

We made the offer last year already to Georg Steger.  We are happy to support AROS.  Who should get it?

Best regards,
Raquel and Bill  :-)

Oh really? did Georg turn it down? I guess he was very busy with the MOS back ports.

I think the best person to talk to would be Michal Schulz as he has just got himself a PPC PReP machine, so I guess he has the most PPC knowledge out of all of us.

Johan Grip and Sebastian Heutling are both avid hardware hackers, so they might be able to do a port.

Ola Jensen has actually bought a Peg board already, but he is a non coding member, and I'm sure he's having far too much fun with  MOS to want to give it away :-)

I suggest you visit the AROS Forums and disscuss it there.

-Edit-
Oh and if there are any going spare, I'm sure I could put it to good use  :-D
Though, what I know about the PPC architecture is only slighly less than the x86... don't ask , I miss the 68k :-P

"Lastly Rose, have you noticed there is a Rebol mailing list on Phoenix and that we have an initiative with Rebol."

Hey ! that's really great ! :-)

With the powerful Rebol * in PPC native * on Pegasos/MorphOS, we will really get one of the most powerful and modern language we can hope.

For the moment, Amiga 68k Rebol ( http://www.rebol.com/view-platforms.shtml ) already runs with NO problem on Pegasos/MorphOS (by the A-Box). The PPC native version will fully give all the powerfull and speed.

Jedi, who is waiting for the native PPC Rebol on Pegasos/MorphOS ;-)

Well, I'll say that Genesi certainly know how to make friends.

Many Thanks Genesi, We are now deciding who will do the AROS port.

You may be waiting a very long time. As far as anyone knows based on public information, OS4 still is nowhere near booting on the AmigaOne. It is now April 2003, how long are you willing to wait?

Until the end of time.  :-)
Actually, I'm not kidding. As long as nothing bad happens financially, I've decided I can afford it.

The latest change is that, at *that* price *and* with PSA included, I want a peg too!

I'm converted! (well, except that I still want an A1)  :-D

Gimme both ya buggers! :pint:
