We never were.  If this were the TV series Red Dwarf, it would be the cats fighting over whether the hats were red or blue.  As it is, it's just time honored tradition that whenever you gather a large group of people who're enthusiastic about ANYTHING, division occurs.

Kinda like basic chemistry/anatomy/cell division 101.

I wanted to focus on the "classic" Amiga until which time we actually saw something out of Amiga Inc.  Amigaworld.net saw a niche to fill supporting OS 4.0 and took advantage of the sitation.

ABSOLUTELY no different from what happened when I formed Amiga.org in 1994 after seeing the potential of creating a portal site for the Amiga, versus Kevin's manually created "list of links" that was known as the Amiga Web Directory.

When Amiga.org came about, some thanked me for it, some cursed me for it.  All I know is that 15 years later, I'm trapped in this strange universe and no one can hear me scream (haha)..

Your aggression is not welcome.

I made a valid question as this is teh first time I see this and, yes, my question was mainly because the site looks -exactly the same-. It was responded with the "they use the same kit for building the site", but I still think that such an uncanny resemblance is unneeded! reading further on story as Wayne expressed it, I see that the site was a spinoff of people leaving here, so the similarities are obvious.

So, not a "rip-off", but heavily inspired (on layout), and with a different focus (the more zealot type).

All clarified! move on, nothing to see here!  :-P

Im pretty sure that this site has been around longer

We began work on Amiga.org in late 1994.  The first-use rights on the logo date back to April 26, 1995. According to WHOIS, Amigaworld.net started on 22 May, 2001.

Historically this was at the very height of the red/blue wars, and as is tradition, Amiga.org split into factions and those who wanted 4.x and new stuff went there.  Those who were just fine stayed here.  It's not quite as simple as that, and I have NO intention of opening old wounds, but that's what happened.

As the world began, God (aka Kevin Hisel for our purposes)  created the Amiga Web directory.  Later, the AWD begat Amiga.org, which begat Amigaworld.net, which begat Amigans.net.

It's a true telling in the world of Amiga that when a site is doing something well, a spinoff is born with people who believe differently.

Judging by the timing, if the Amiga is still alive in the hearts of minions everywhere, Amigans.net should be spawning a rebellion of it's own in about 3 years.

(I say all of this honestly in loving humor of how silly we all once were over this crap).

Dont forget ANN.lu!!

@Akira:
You may had a valid point in 2001 not so on 2009... btw it's quite a shock that a forum site resembles another... I see tons of forum sites resembling each other, might it be due to the type of site?

In evolution convergence also applies...

I've hung out at aw.net for years. Lots of them. I'm not as obsessively red as some are, and it feels a little more balanced since the truely reddest of the reds went to amigans.net. I'm not red enough to spend lots of time on that one. And I criticize Amiga Inc. to no end on aw.net. I read that site and this one amiga.org for the most part, others I look up once in a great while. I don't even know what that EAB is.

I have never been much interested in the so-called "camps"... I must say I like amigaworld.net and amigans.net more as there's more talk and support of OS4.x there.

There's nothing wrong with that.  As the site's owner/webmaster, I do what I can, but don't set the tone of the conversations.

And seeing how the amount of members decreases for each "exodus", you will probably be able to count the members of that offspring on your two hands fingers...

They've got an awful attitude there IMO. They automatically disable accounts if you don't post frequently enough for their liking, and it's been known for anyone expressing an interest in OS4 (or any non-68k Amiga-like OS) to be very aggressively flamed.
