Well,

I wasn't trying for a joke.  I guess from what I've heard the jokes on me though.  Do you think reporting him to the local authorities/BBB would have any effect?  Maybe there's a 'News9 on your side' type local television news option.

He didn't get me too badly, just a broken A2000 motherboard.  It's the principle though.   :madashell:
If I can\\\'t drop it and fix it, then it wasn\\\'t broken to begin with.  It just needed power applied.   :quickdraw:

Do you have the serial number? Do you have tracking information for the shipment? If you have both of those, call the Beaverton OR police department.

Yeah when you tell the Beaverton police that you are reporting the theft of a 15 year old computer motherboard you'll have to wait 5 minutes for the laughter to die down before continuing...

Tell them it's a Military Spec motherboard and it shouldn't take too long for Homeland Security to get involved.  The thought of Doomy in Gitmo should appeal to some people.

Theft is theft. They won't laugh, but this report will likely be filed immediately with no follow up. However if everyone starts filing a complaint, eventually they will have to take notice. Also an A2000 motherboard would be hard to prove value, but an Amiga 4000 and other Amiga related goods would not. I think anything over $400 is usually considered grand theft.

The Palm Beach County Serriff's office took it very serious when an auto repair shop stole the emblems off the hubcaps on my 1986 Ghetto Sled.

I'd contact him and tell him that you want the motherboard back immediately. Give him a specific deadline and follow up the contact in writing sent registered mail.

Then after the deadline passes I would report him to the local authorities as recommended. It will only take a few reports of theft from people to cause an investigation. Make sure you keep all the evidence in a folder so if the police request details you can supply it quickly.

Speaking of April 1st, I almost signed up for Virgle yesterday.

Sorry to hear about your Amiga 2000 problem. There's a repair center in France. I know it's far, but they will give you a free diagnostic first.

even if it was modern hardware it's unlikely that the authoraties would do anything due to the ammount of work involved. No joke here, they do try to avoid internet fraud because of that.

You all know that Doomy is not the most prompt person.  I think he will come clean on this one.  Give it some more time.

@Dropcheck, did you pay him yet?  Let us know how it pans out.

@TjLaZer

I know you know Doommaster and are a mod on his site, but I think you're being a bit euphemistic here.

He is a known scam artist and with that also rude and annoying.

Well maybe I am, I guess I just like to see the good in people.  I do sincerely hope he does like he claims and does the right thing.  There is no need to be ripping people off.

Well it happens. And he will drag you into it. Some people have the urge to do wrong (in their perspective).
Psychology recognises this.

TjLaZer he has ripped you of to the tune of an A3000+ "the rarest Amiga of all" and you want to see the good in him!

Damn, either you are very foolish or you ARE Doomy!
