"$365 for an A500??????
I paid $35 (yes thirty five) for a NIB A500 just like the one in this auction. It came with a NIB 1084S D2! I think you got scammed! :( :("

That's not a bad price for an Amiga 500 Deluxe pack new in box. Yes, I speak from experience on the matter. I was selling Deluxe packs for more than that in 2004. The more time passes, the more NIB Amigas will go for. Whether you like it or not, this is life.

Really, that's just bragging, and I don't think that was very nice of you.

How do you think this guy is gonna feel after that? Besides, *you* got lucky, and that's it, it's not gonna happen to everybody.

Personally I wouldn't mind spending that kind of money on a NIB A500 in such a great condition if I had that kind of money to spend.

The only drawback would be that I would open the A500 and start using it afterwards... so it'd be probably wasted on me  :-)

There is something about owning something so old that is new, though I can't put it into text.

I would be happy to let you speak to the guy that sold it to me. An Afghanistani fellow had bought the A500/1084 combination. He soon realized the A2000 was far more expandable so he bought one and never returned the 500. He also bought some large 19" monitor for the 2000 and did not use the 1084. Anyway, the 2000 would not boot. I fixed it for him so he sold me the 500 and 1084 for $35. I have no reason to lie and nothing to prove to you

That's not eBay, that's a local deal. They happen on occasion if you are in the right market, I've had them. eBay OTOH is an open global auction market, prices sold closely reflect real world values. Your post seemed to imply you got that price on eBay.

Anyhow, harassing eBay buyers like you claimed you did is childish.

How much did a new A500 cost anyway?

I bought my A500 Deluxe (same kit as the one in the auction) with a 1084 and an ATonce PC emulator from Tenex (anybody remember them?) for about $1100 shipped.  I think that was in 1991 or '92.

A little gentle ribbing never hurt anyone! If someone would pay $365 for an A500, they deserve a little teasing!

And I know better than to buy Amigas off of eBay.

While I have landed some unbelievable "private" deals over the years, I have also made some real killings on eBay too. You just need to be careful.

Most all of my deals are private deals. eBay is more trouble than it's worth.

@gdanko,

Just looking at your sig and noticed that the CD32 is missing.  I am surprised you have not picked up one of those to complete your collection of every Amiga model?

Refresh my memory of the specifications inside the A3500? Is it a desktop or tower?
How are you helping the Amiga community? :)

I had a chance to get a boxed CD32 for $25 and waited too long. :(

3500 is a 3000T prototype.
