FS: IDE-adapters to 68k-socket and mouse adapter PCBs
« on: February 05, 2008, 08:03:53 PM »
I will be selling around 20 pcs of IDE-adapters, maybe on eBay, or otherwise. I'll put some information about the adapter on the web page.

I have also some blank printed circuit boards that are compatible with the "ps2m" mouse adapter. It is the version 0.7 on this page. Total number of boards to sell now is about 50. Price is 10 euros for 7 boards and one PIC programming adapter pcb, exluding shipping. The programming adapter converts DIP18 header to a 2x5 female header.

My e-mail address is mika.leinonen@tut.fi

To decide a selling price, I'm putting it to 35 euros for 1 ide68k board with all surface mount parts soldered and cpld preprogrammed with current design, excluding shipping.

Please note, that the 35 euros doesn't yet bring you a working IDE solution (almost does), but you need something to connect the board to the 68k socket and the 68 cpu. The most cheapest way to do it is to place the cpu under the board, instead over it, and solder the board to the cpu using, for example row header strips (2 x 32 pins.)
For it to autboot, you'll need a Kickstart 40.063 (KS3.1) or a 37.350 (KS2.05)

I have maybe 2 pcs of extra 68000 CPUs, and will sell (two pcs of) boards soldered on the CPU, and the adapter briefly tested, for a price of 50 euros + shipping.

Erm, could you explain what you mean in a little more detail as it's not very clear.

Sorry to be a pain.

Nice work !
Are you going to post the schematic to the IDE-adapter ?
Are you going to sell any blank pcbs for the IDE-adapter ?

If it came with a socket, I buy two, so I had a spare. :-D

I'll try take some photos to explain the socketing. The task is to connect the adapter board to the amiga buses, while not disconnecting the cpu at the same time, so some kind of piggy-backing is needed.

I will add the schematic on the www page in a few days.
I have only one (intentionally left) blank PCB, others have at least the CPLD already soldered.

An example of specialty headers:
http://www.mill-max.com/images/products/pdf/061.PDF
The lower ends of pins should narrow, because thick pins would damage the cpu socket.
(64 pins would cost about $10, at digi-key)

I've purchased some headers and sockets from ebay-sellers, so in a week or two i'll be able to sell completed and tested boards. I'm asking the price of 45 euros + shipping charges for one board.

If the shipment destination is outside of the EU, the customs in the receiving country may want to declare it and charge duty and taxes.  :rtfm:

Did you mean A500? The A600 has already an IDE-connector. This interface emulates the IDE-interface of A600, and the board plugs into the 64-pin DIP socket of A500/1000/2000 models. Also the IDE-connector is a 40-pin one, used in 3.5" inch hard disks. (A600 has a 44-pin connector for 2.5" inch drives)

(The connector actually has 39 pins, since from one pin location the pin is a removed "key-pin".)

If the minimig mimicks the a500 perfectly, should this be possible to piggyback on the 68k of the minimig?

Whats causing it not to work on the minimig?

The CPU on the minimig is in a different package than it is on the 500 or 2000 (or 1000).
