Trouble with scripting... Got IT!!!
« on: November 06, 2002, 10:11:08 PM »
Need some help with perfecting a JavaScript.  I'm building a new web design for a client which has a navigational table that remembers the state of display (shown|hidden) via JavaScript cookies.  If no cookies are sent by the requesting browser the navigation table is always shown.  Right now the design will not work with Moz/NS/Opera, I'll fix that later on.  If it's an Amiga browser the navigation table will always display.  The problem is handling the display of a section with remote onClick events.  I've put a test page online to play around with but I'm missing something in the development.  When the source of this JavaScript is working, I'll make it cross browser for any browser that supports the DOM later.

Any assistance with this would be cool.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I was able to figure it out.  I've started building the cross browser components needed and will start working on the script cookies sometime soon.  It doesn't look like it will work with Opera but I'm going to see if I can find a way since Opera will work with the DOM and style.display settings.  I built the functionality to work like a toggle button so duplication of efforts would not happen.  With a lot of work, you could build a menu tree but then again, it would be a pain to setup and debug.  Have a look, make comments, etc.  Feel free to use the scripts I've made to your benefit.
