Title: AROS Videos
Post by: 4pLaY on July 22, 2003, 09:32:06 PM
Have you ever wanted to try AROS? but you never really bothered to try it? or you could not get it to work on your PC? then you should download these latest movies and check AROS in the flesh.

It should be noted that These videos are made by Paul Gallant and not the AROS Development Team,
and show AROS from a users perspective.

A big thanx goes to him from the team for taking the time and motivation to make them (as we said
before not everyone needs to be a coder to step up and help this project). The videos are in a bit
low quality, but higher-quality ones are on schedule and rocking and should hit you anyday now.
We've already seen them in-house, and they look great! However, some minor technical difficulties
means we cannot share them with you right now. Please be patient. Enough of the chit chat go get
the movies NOW (http://www.aros.org/downloads/videos/)

Nice :-)

Had a mess around with it the other day. Rebooted an old PC in the work room with AROS on CD...

Was really impressed with its boot time.

Boss wasnt though - turned out they had decided to use that PC as a print server.... ahem.

Hmm there was some talk that one could get uae running on aros... if so where can I get it? Also a nice little web browser woud be good.. But I guess they are concentrating on OS functionality... AHwell for what ive experienced of AROS its rather nice - but pretty useless without utils

Yeah - but it hasn't even hit Beta yet. Its still very much an Alpha release :-)

So give it time :-)

I'm hoping to have the high quality videos out soon.
FYI, The current lower quality videos were done with
Aros running under Virtual PC on my mac with a video
convertor.  kind of the opposite of a amiga scandoubler/
flickerfixer:). I have a better solution now.

Running on Virtual PC, and it was still pretty nippy! :-D

It'll give the people who haven't tried it an even more impressive idea of its speed natively :-)

And if it looks like that on a Mac.. just imagine how it is on my Athlon  :-D

OK.. I tease :¬)  This was a really useful boost to the AROS project and the fact that it was not done by the coders means we lost no time working on code, as well as showing that we do indeed need people aside from programming experts.
