Updated: Several months ago, I mentioned that we were investigating the idea of offering a free @amiga.org e-mail forwarding service for all our validated users. That service is now available and working.
From this moment -- keep in mind that we are still in testing mode -- if you are a validated user of Amiga.org, people can reach you by sending mail to username@amiga.org.
- Validated means that you have activated your account according to the e-mail we sent out when you created your account. No validation, no e-mail forwarding. It's that simple.
- The destination e-mail address is determined by that address given in your account. If you do not have a valid e-mail account listed, you may not partake in e-mail forwarding. No exceptions. You do not have to show your address to the world from your account settings.
- Do NOT change your e-mail address in your account to username@amiga.org, as it will break your e-mail forwarding as well as disable your account. (since the address wouldn't be a valid contact address).
- We are working to enhance this service, to include a way for you to opt out of the e-mail forwarding, but that is not yet available.
Any questions, comments? donations to the cause?

Just did a test and ...
Yup it works ;-) ;-)
Thanks Wayne.

Whoa this is too cool!!
redrumloa@amiga.org
I like the sound of that alot!! Thanks Wayne!
:-D

Only the good die young all the evil seems to live forever
I take it you are an Iron Maiden fan?
-
Comments ? Great, ThanX
Question.. How fast is it ? Does it work faster then sending a mail from a hotmail account ?
-
Allright ! It's fast ! :-P
-
I take it you are an Iron Maiden fan?
It fits quite well to the Amiga-situation
Can you name this one ?
-
That is an easy one..."Only the Good Die Young" is the last track off of
Maiden's Seventh Son of a Seventh Son...
I actually have a pretty neat desktop theme going right now with
Maiden and the boing ball...
Personally, I think "Brave New World" is very fitting to Amiga and
therefore that's kind of my desktop theme :-)
-
Cheers Wayne!
wow it's fast - more or less instant!
:pint:
-
Just sent a couple of emails to myself and it
worked perfectly.
Helps spread the Amiga name through the masses.
-
This kicks ass Wayne!!!!! Great feature!

-
Features are always good and it does indeed work very fast.
But I'm somewhat confused - what is it good for?
I'm not trying to bring Wayne down here, I just
don't see any obvious advantage of routing e-mail
through here only to have it arrive at my normal
address.. Is it only to be able to have an e-mail
including the word 'amiga' or are there some other boon of using this system?
Considering the other exalted replies everyone seem to have
understood but me. Fill me in!

Advantage? Dunno, guess it's like getting a free full color boing ball image on your business card :-)
If you put your username@amiga.org address in the reply-to field of your client, you can also send mail as being from amiga.org.... Just a point of community spirit I'd suppose.

I am not sure, but I would think that one can use the xxx@amigaorg address and whenever
you change your other email (like changing ISP) then you will still get your email and won't have
to update everyone of your new email address.
-
i just wonder where is forwarded mail for annonymous ??? to dev/null :-D :-D :-D
-
It's a pretty good idea.. especially when you have an isp or email that is a mouthfull to say. atleast now, it'll be easier for alot of us :-)
gone is krashamiga@austarmetro.com.au
and now is krash@amiga.org
Great stuff.

KrasH

Wow, thanks Wayne.
Would it be possible to forward to
more than one address? Like at home and work?
Yes, this will be much easier for me to give out my
email address now :-)
-
Hi!
This is a great thang!
But I tried many times without
success :-?
What can I do?
Bye,
herbo
-
Way Wicked. Well done Wayne.. your a Legend!
-
But I tried many times without success.
Care to elaborate? What did you try many times without success?
-
Would it be possible to forward to
Sure, but like a drug dealer, only the first one's free... :)
-
Wayne,
Does the username have the be exactly the same in the e-mail adress? I mean mine is Coder. Does coder@amiga.org work to?
C(c)oder

For me, slimjim@amiga.org works just as fine
as SlimJim@amiga.org...
.
SlIm JiM...
-
Coder,
They are, by default, case INsensitive.
-
: unknown user: "herbo"
One of the update files was not working properly. Guess that's why I called this a BETA program huh?
:-)
-
That is what it said in the topic, still in testing. If I send to Coder@amiga.org they arrive but to coder@amiga.org seems to disapear. Allthough one I send yersterday evening (coder@amiga.org) arrived this morning.
Ohh lol, it works now. Ok, happy me!
Coder
-
Hey hey hey! That's pretty cool, & it promotes Amiga Org to boot!!
Neat tool, Wayne! Yet another perk to being a good standing member of Amiga Org.
-
Humm, what will the fix cost?
Next ? If I want to change the forwarding to a
different address, do I change my address here in
my profile? I would think that would be the case,
just wondering.
-
Now it's ok!
GREAT! :-D :-D :-D
-
nops,
it is not working for me
is "GT" too short as a username ? is there a difference between "GT" and "gt" ?
-
You cannot sign up and expect it to be instantaneous. It runs on 30 minute increments, might take as long as an hour... :)
-
hello folks,
it works and it's nice.
ciao...
-
Sorry Wayne for being so inpatient.
This service is just too kewl ;) It is working mighty fine now.
cheers,
GT (germany)

All I can say is, Wayne: Good Work Fella :-D,
This sort of thing makes me glad I registered.
Cheers,

-
Neat I think I might give out that address as It will make life easier when my ISP goes t*tsup :)

The e-mail forwarding is a really ggod idea and seems to have been well received. However, my e-mail is already forwarded from my registered domain to my ISP allocated e-mail account. There's a lot of forwarding going on !
I suppose it would be possible to forward from the amiga. org address to another registered address and then back again. This would put the e-mail into perpetual motion around the web. Rather like accoustic feedback from a loudspeaker to a microphone. But there is no volume control to turn it off. Another way to crash the web? :-x
-
The service works well if you dont want to give your isp email address why not sighn up for a yahoo address.
-
Great idea, works well.
-
cool!
-
HAHAHA! :-D :-D
Wayne - thankyou very much! This is absolutly fantastic - very cool, and usefull. When I do change my ISP etc this is gonna be even more fantastic!!
:-) :-) :-) :-)
-
cool!
just tried...works great.
Thanks Wayne
