Title: Which Unix/Linux for AmigaOne ?
Post by: CLS2086 on November 09, 2008, 10:21:55 PM
Hi everybody !

I have to set up again my linux config on my A1SE, but this time I have enough to swap of graphic card (i've a R9100 which was not supported natively by YLD3 and Debian 3, so i had to unplug it for a R7000 which is no more supported by AmigaOS4.x).

Does anyone make a bootcd for a recent linux distro ? Or a good trick ?

@CLS2086

I have never installed Linux on my MicroA1, so I can't help other than point out some threads.

When I looked at your post, there was a list of "Similar Threads" below.  There are also several threads over on amigaworld.

Some other people have been wondering about boot CDs for Linux.

Does Geri's new kernel (http://amigaone-linux.sourceforge.net/download.php) work on the SE? You could probably get a newer Debian installed with that.

Debian or Yellow Dog.
I think Debian Woody/Sarge work no problem, for Debian Etch and newer you may need a newer kernel.
I have Woody/Sarge CDs if you want it for starters.  Etch you can get yourself.

The easy tick is to install woody, sarge then whatever else, by upgrading your distro.
